Character actor, born in Oklahoma, his most visible role was that of Chief Petty Officer Manilow Crocker on the first season of the television series sea Quest DSV. Applegate portrayed Deputy Crawford in Stir Crazy (1985); in his career worked in many films and series Tv: Splash (1984), Gettysburg (1993), Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Gods and Generals (2003), Seabiscuit (2003) Intolerable Cruelty (2003) and many others; Royce passed away on New Year's Day 2003, in his Hollywood Hills home in a fire just one week after his 63rd birthday.- The son of a tailor, Cyril studied at the London School of Broadcasting aged 12 years. His first professional appearance, at 12, came on Radio Lyons and Radio Luxembourg in such commercials as O.K. Sauce and Quaker Oats. After demob from the Army, he enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art which was followed by Guildford rep and the West End. He worked in Hollywood for two years with Radio Netherland as English announcer,scriptwriter and producer of programmes. Then came BBC Radio Drama Rep. for two years (1952 - 54). Cyril, whose forebearers were Polish, was the father of three children, Michael, Simon and Sarah.

Giorgio Gaber was born on 25 January 1939 in Milan, Lombardy, Italy. He was an actor and composer, known for Rossini! Rossini! (1991), Boccaccio '70 (1962) and Skin Deep (1979). He was married to Ombretta Colli. He died on 1 January 2003 in Montemagno, Lucca, Tuscany, Italy.- Joe Foss was born and raised on a farm just outside Sioux Falls, SD. As a young man he was fascinated by the exploits of Charles A. Lindbergh, and vowed to one day "trade his horse for a plow." He joined the Marines during WWII and, despite his age, became a pilot. Foss scored 26 kills during the war, tying Eddie Rickenbacker's WWI record. Foss received the Medal of Honor for his work. He later served as a colonel during the Korean War.
After Foss left the military, he went into politics, serving in the South Dakota legislature. In 1955 he became South Dakota's youngest governor, serving two years in that office. He was also an avid hunter and sportsman. He served as the American Football League's first president (1960-1966), was the original host of ABC's The American Sportsman (1965) and was president of the National Rifle Association from 1988 to 1990.
Foss was taken to the hospital October 7, 2002 after suffering a brain aneurysm. He never came out of his coma. - Actor

Son of Austrian opera singer Hans Robert, Ernest Roberts began his stage career in Germany and Vienna under the direction of Otto Preminger. In 1937 he emigrated to England, later moving to the US.
After working on a variety of jobs in New York, including that of private secretary to actor Walter Slezak, he attempted (together with his then wife Lisl Valetti) to build a career in films in Hollywood, unfortunately without success. While still in New York, he later wrote advertising copies and tried his hand at stage productions.
