John Trudell was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to a Santee Sioux father and Mexican Indian mother. After a stint in the Navy (and Vietnam) from 1963 to 1969, he became involved with the American Indian Movement, becoming National Chairman in 1973. He held that position until 1979; it was then that his wife Tina, mother-in-law, and three children ages one, three, & five, were burned to death in a "fire of suspicious origin" on their Nevada reservation which was nonetheless never investigated. Beginning in the early 1980's, Trudell began to channel his anger and emotion through poetry, music, and acting.- Music Department

Producers didn't think the name Mary Jo was country enough and asked her to change her name. She had two top 10 Country hits in 1953; "Seven Lonely Days" and "Tennessee Wig Walk" as well as a pop hit in 1955, "Daddy-O". She also recorded several Christmas albums with her TV associates. Worked on KMBC radio in Kansas City and WLW radio in Cincinnati including its TV affiliates WLWT in Cincinnati, WLWD in Dayton and WLWI in Indianapolis. Was a regular on three local shows in Cincinnati;The Paul Dixon Show, Midwestern Hayride and the Ruth Lyons 50-50 Club over a 30-year period.
