Simone Silva was born Martha Simone de Bouillard in Cairo, Egypt. Her parents were French and Italian. At the age of eighteen she married Cecil Silver, a wealthy businessman, and moved to England. Simone started her career modeling for sexy pin-up photos. In 1950 she made her film debut in the French movie "Le Tampon du Capiston". Then she had bit parts in the British films "Bikini Baby" and "Bachelor In Paris". The voluptuous redhead struggled with her weight so she began crash dieting. She was cast in the big budget adventure "Hajji Baba" but was replaced before filming began. Her marriage to Cecil ended in 1954. That same year she costarred with Diana Dors in the drama "The Weak And The Wicked". Simone desperately wanted to become famous and claimed she would "do anything" to get in the papers. At the 1954 Cannes film festival she was awarded the honorary title of "Miss Festival 1954" and asked to pose for photos with actor Robert Mitchum. When the photographers started taking pictures she shocked them by stripping her top off.
The nude publicity stunt turned into a major scandal and she was asked to leave the festival. In an interview she said "I thought it would help my career. I wanted to go to Hollywood - and after all Marilyn Monroe became famous after she posed nude for a calendar. What was the harm in it?" She was signed by independent producer Al Petker and moved to Hollywood. Unfortunately she had trouble obtaining a work visa and began feuding with Petker over her salary. Simone was hospitalized in November 1954 due to stress and her eating disorder. Soon after she was forced to return to England. She landed a role in the 1956 low-budget crime picture "The Dynamiters". Then she appeared in two episodes of the television show "The Gay Cavalier". Tragically on November 30, 1957 she was found dead in her London apartment. Simone had died from a stroke caused by her rigorous crash-dieting. She was only twenty-nine years old.- Director

Alexander McQueen was born on 16 March 1969 in Lewisham, London, England, UK. He was a director and writer, known for Björk: Alarm Call (1998), Björk: Volumen (1999) and Björk: Volumen Plus (2002). He died on 11 February 2010 in Mayfair, London, England, UK.- English nurse and hospital reformer. Florence Nightingale was named after the place of her birth in Italy. Educated at home by their wealthy, well-bred father, Nightingale and her older sister Parthenope studied history, philosophy, mathematics, and classics; they also wrote weekly compositions. Nursing was considered a profession for the lower-classes and that time, however Florence decided that was what she wanded to do. She trained as a nurse at Kaiserswerth (1851) and Paris and in 1853 became superintendent of a hospital for invalid women in London. In the Crimean War she volunteered for duty and took 38 nurses to Scutari in 1854. She organized the barracks hospital after the Battle of Inkerman (5 November) and by imposing strict discipline and standards of sanitation reduced the hospital mortality rate drastically. She returned to England in 1856 and a fund of L 50,000 was subscribed to enable her to form an institution for the training of nurses at St Thomas's and at King's College Hospital. She devoted many years to the question of army sanitary reform, to the improvement of nursing and to public health in India. Her main work, Notes on Nursing (1859), went through many editions.
- Nevil Maskelyne born in Cheltenham in 1839. Famous magician and illusionist who teamed up with George Alfred Cooke' together they presented a unique entertainment of magic, billed as 'Maskelyne and Cooke' they became highly popular at the Egyptian Hall in Piccadilly, London from 1873, here they completely transformed the art of conjuring into a dramatic performance, they remained there until 1904. In 1896 the pioneering film maker Robert W. Paul approach him to perform in front of the film camera, spinning plates and basins the film lasted for only 20 seconds long. He died in 1917 in London age 78.

- Playwright and journalist Charles Haddon Chambers was born in Sydney, Australia, on April 22, 1860, to Irish immigrants. After graduating from school he took a government job with the New South Wales Civil Service, but left after a few years to be a stockrider in the outback.
At age 22 he left Australia for London, England, to try his hand at journalism. He also began writing plays, and it wasn't long before a comedy he wrote, "Captain Swift", was produced by Sir Beerbohm Tree at the Haymarket Theatre in 1888, and it was a hit. In 1890 another of his plays, "The Idler", was produced on Broadway in New York. Several of his plays were turned into films.
