The Wildcats - who were 18-7 last season and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament - will be playing their second exhibition of the preseason after opening with a 77-48 loss at Washington. Chris Sprinker is Central Washington's top returning scorer from last season when he averaged 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He is joined by Jon Clift - the lone returning starter for the Wildcats - who averaged 5.3 points while shooting .452 from downtown in 2008-09. The Cougars opened their exhibition season with a 74-56 win against Trinity Western on Nov. 3. Junior guard Jimmer Fredette led BYU with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting while adding six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Senior forward Jonathan Tavernari added 18 points and a team-high eight boards.
- he BYU men's basketball team will host Trinity Western University, the first of two exhibition games for the Cougars, in the Marriott Center on Thursday at 7 p.m. Trinity Western is a private, Christian-affiliated university located in British Columbia, Canada. The Spartans will play three contests in Utah, traveling to Utah Valley University on Tuesday before heading to Provo and then Utah State. Jacob Doerksen, a 6-foot-6 senior from British Columbia, leads the team with an average of 15.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg while Calvin Westbrook, a 6-foot-5 junior, is averaging 10.5 ppg. Trinity Western is 1-1 after defeating Waterloo and losing to British Columbia. The Cougars return four starters, including conference first-teamer Jimmer Fredette and third-team selection Jonathan Tavernari, to a team that won its third-straight Mountain West Conference championship and finished with a 25-8 record in 2008-09.
- With a nine-game unbeaten streak on their record, the No. 11 BYU Cougars return home to South Field to take on conference opponent New Mexico Freshman Carlee Payne leads the Cougar offense with nine goals and 38 shots. Teammate Kassidy C. Shumway follows with four goals and 27 shots. Shumway was recently named MWC Offesnive Player of the Week for her game-winning goal against UNLV. New Mexico (10-2-2, 2-1-0) is led by Jennifer Williams with nine goals and 58 shots. Nine Lobos have taken double-figure shots this season. The Lobos recently reached their 10-win mark, the first time since 2002, after their win over Air Force.
- This will be BYU's first contest against Oklahoma State. Monday's game will showcase two 2009 Hermann Trophy Watch List Candidates with BYU defender Willis and Oklahoma State forward Langdon.
- The Cougars (8-2-1) hold a 119-25-8 all-time home record after recent wins over Southern Utah and Utah State, and are currently on a five-game winning streak. BYU is led by freshman Carlee Payne with eight goals and 30 shots this season. Payne has scored a goal in eight of BYU's 11 games. Payne and fellow freshman teammate Lindsi Lisonbee have both started every game for the Cougars this year. Cougar Hermann Trophy Candidate Andrea Willis was recently named MWC Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the second time this season after a goal scored against Southern Utah and a strong defensive stance leading to a shutout win over Utah State. The No. 14 Oregon Ducks (7-1-1) are on a six-game winning streak with its most recent win over Portland State. Jen Stoltenberg leads the team with six goals and 37 shots. Six Ducks have taken double-figure shots this season. The Cougars holds a 1-0 record against the Ducks, winning 1-0 in their last meeting in 1996. This is BYU's first time hosting Oregon at South Field.
- Returning from an undefeated two-game stretch at Penn State where the Cougars defeated No. 20 UConn and No. 9 West Virginia by one point in each, BYU looks to continue it's winning streak and current shut-out of all its opponents. BYU is 12-2-0 in home game season openers and has an 115 -24-8 overall home record at South Field. This season, no opponents have had more than five shots on goal against the Cougars and they have yet to allow a goal against them. Sophomore goalie McKinzie Olson has now had three consecutive shut-outs in a row after BYU's win over West Virginia. Senior defender Andrea Willis anchors the BYU defense as a 2009 Hermann Trophy Candidate and Preseason All-American. Willis was also awarded Mountain West Conference Player-of-the-Week accolades on Aug. 31. The William and Mary Tribe come to Provo with a 1-1 record thus far this season after a 3-1 win against Monmouth on Friday, Aug 28. Two William & Mary team members, junior Kaitlin O'Connor and sophomore Diana Weigel, were named to the preseason All-CAA teams for 2009. Weigel leads the Tribe with two assists on the season.
- After going 0-3 at the Ameritas Players Challenge in Nebraska the BYU Cougars (4-6) will return home to open Mountain West Conference play against San Diego State (4-4) on Thursday in the Smith Fieldhouse.
- The Cougars have been consistently successful against the Warriors at home, winning five of the last six meetings in the Smith Fieldhouse, including four straight. BYU holds a 25-14 all-time advantage over Hawai'i, most recently winning both matches played at the Stan Sheriff Center in 2008. Hawai'i won five of the first seven matches played between the two teams. Since then, the Cougars have ruled the series. Since its victory on Feb. 1, 1997, BYU has posted a 19-6 record against the Warriors, including two separate streaks of five and six consecutive wins.
- The Cougars are 15-5 against the Anteaters since 2001, but only 4-5 against them since the 2006 season. BYU defeated UCI in three matchups in 2008, including two in Irvine, Calif. and one at the MPSF Tournament quarterfinals. After defeating the Anteaters, the Cougars eventually reached the championship match where they fell to Pepperdine in five sets. BYU and UCI met earlier this season in the second round of the UC Santa Barbara Elephant Bar Tournament. Despite defeating the Anteaters in four games at the BYU Tournament in December, it was the Cougars who fell in four sets as UCI pulled ahead to win a close 30-27 fourth set and the match.
- The Cougars are coming off a week break after suffering two losses at No. 5 USC on Feb. 6 & 7. BYU lost 3-1 and 3-2 at the hands of the Trojans. The Tritons of UCSD are coming off a three-game victory over No. 11 George Mason in the championship game of the 2009 Volleyball Hall of Fame Morgan Classic on Feb. 14. UCSD took the tournament crown with game scores of 30-18, 30-21, 30-15, thanks in part to tournament MVP Will Ehrman's 14 kill, 13 dig performance. Series Information The Cougars boast an undefeated, 24-0 record against UCSD, dating back to 1993. Of those 24 meetings, 18 resulted in sweeps, with the Tritons claiming only five games. No matchup between these two teams has ever gone to a fifth set. Last season BYU visited UCSD in San Diego on Jan. 11 & 12, coming away with 3-1, 3-0 victories.
- Record: BYU leads the series 20-1 Last Meeting: Both league foes met twice during last season's MWC race with each team winning on its home court. On Jan. 30, the Cougars grabbed a 52-47 victory in the Marriott Center. At Clune Arena in Colorado Springs, the Academy picked up a 54-49 win on Mar. 1, for the first time in the series between the two schools.
- Record: BYU leads the series with a 47-22 record. Last Meeting: In last season's MWC race, the Cougar women won both contests against the Rams. In Provo on 2/13/08 the 15-point win was 59-44 and in Ft. Collins on 1/12/08 the victory for the visiting team was by a wider margin, 60-39. The Rams last win at the Marriott Center was on 02/13/04, a 72-64 victory where they have a 6-24 record. Coach Judkins is 11-5 vs. CSU.
- Record: BYU leads the overall series with a 36-9 record. Last Meeting: Dec. 12, 2007. In last year's game played at the Dee Events Center, Weber State picked up the 65-54 victory. When playing in the Marriott Center, the Wildcats have a 1-17 record getting their lone win coming on Dec. 20, 1989 a 93-87 victory.

- Weber State plays twice before facing the Cougars, and currently sits at 6-7-2 (3-1-0, Big Sky). The team lost its first conference game Sunday, Oct. 19, falling to Northern Colorado 2-1 in Greeley. Senior midfielder Hayley McCoy leads the Wildcats with five goals and four assists in 2008. Four other Wildcats have each scored three goals apiece. Weber State is outshooting their opponents 242-205, but is being outscored 22-18. Rebecca Ritchie, as junior goalkeeper, has a 1.18 goals-against-average for the team and has started all 14 games in goal this year.

Host Matt Faraci traveled to Provo, Utah to the campus of Brigham Young University to meet the cast of Studio C, BYUtv's live sketch comedy show. Matt spent some time in their writer's room talking about family, comedy and the art of keeping it clean.
