This two-part subject introduces a beautiful character, "Old Reliable," portrayed by Van Dyke Brooke, who made of it such a lovable old fellow, in his tribulations, that one almost forgot it was a picture. There was some frivolousness in some of the acting that marred one or two scenes and the continuity of the story seemed broken in the second reel. However, it is enjoyable and the finale bears with it a lesson and a moral that is wholesome. - The Moving Picture World, April 4, 1914
