The Cinderella Man (1917) - Lost Film
PamelaShort29 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Returning from abroad, Marjorie Caner ( Mae Marsh ) finds herself very lonely in her millionaire father's big house. She learns that a young poet, Anthony Quintard ( Tom Moore ) is living in poverty next door while working on the libretto of a great opera, so she skips across the roofs and brings him a Christmas banquet. Knowing that he detests wealth, Marjorie pretends to be the secretary of the Caner family. She volunteers to type his libretto, and a close affection grows between them. When Anthony wins a $10,000 prize for his work, he is outraged when he discovers Marjorie is an heiress. Her father, Morris Caner ( George Fawcett ) softened under his daughter's influence, comes to the rescue by feigning financial ruin, and manages to reconcile the two lovers.

The Cinderella Man starring the popular actress Mae Marsh, tragically now remains a lost silent film.
