- While traveling to meet her sweetheart, Richard Carr, in the capital of the Grand Duchy of Bonaluria, Peggy Dare's train compartment door is thrust open and a little boy is thrown at her feet. Peggy is so taken with the child, who tells her that his name is Manouche, that she looks after him. She foils an attempt to kill Manouche, before arriving in Bonaluria where she learns from Richard that the boy is really the Grand Duke. Peggy and Manouche are then separated as Peggy goes to live with Richard's mother and the boy returns to court. However, the power hungry Prince Henri, who is madly in love with Peggy, abducts the little duke and holds him ransom for Peggy's affections. For the sake of the child, Peggy agrees to go away with the prince and accompanies him to the castle. Carr, believing that Peggy has betrayed him, follows and is imprisoned by the prince. They are all rescued when the Royal Guards, summoned by Peggy, arrive and arrest the prince. Carr then apologizes to Peggy for his suspicions, and together they sail for America.—Pamela Short
- Peggy Dare, an American heiress, is journeying to her sweetheart in the capital of the Grand Duchy of Bonaluria. A boy is thrown at her feet as the train pulls out. Peggy is so taken with the child that she takes care of him as a note pinned to his waist asks. The child gives his name as Manouche. At Bonaluria Peggy foils an attempt to kill the child with a bomb and learns from her sweetheart Richard Carr that the boy is the Grand Duke of Bonaluria. Peggy goes to Carr's home, to live with his mother, until she and Carr are married. The little Duke pines for Peggy, and is very lonely. Peggy is presented at Court, decorated for saving the Duke's life, and upsets Court etiquette by hugging the little Grand Duke. Later, the same mysterious power Prince Henri causes the Grand Duke to be abducted. Henri is wildly in love with Peggy, but she repulses his advances. Manouche, the little Grand Duke, when Henri imprisons him places on his cloak a pin that Peggy has given him. When Henri calls Peggy sees the pin and understands. She agrees to fly with Henri, who is leaving the country that night (taking the little duke with him). He takes her to his castle, where Manouche is a prisoner. Carr, told of their having gone off together, follows and confronts them, but is thrown in a cell by Henri. Toursville and Royal Guards who have been summoned by Peggy arrive and rescue Manouche. Carr apologizes for his suspicions. And a little later, Peggy and Carr marry and sail for America, while the lonely Grand Duke waves farewell to them: "Someday you'll come back when I'm more grown up."—Moving Picture World synopsis
