- Determined to take over the kingdom of the Seven Dials, the Queen of the Bouncing Ball, with the aid of the witch, transforms the seven princes of the kingdom into swans and leads them far away from court. Learning from the moon fairies of her brothers' fate, Princess Tweedledee finds the swans and resolves to stay with them. She is seen by Prince Charming who falls madly in love with her. Soon after, the moon fairies reappear and tell her that she can change her brothers back to human form if she will weave seven robes of nettle and cover the swans with them. One condition, though, is that she not speak to any human being during this time, a condition which perplexes the prince when she refuses to talk to him. Finding that her enforced dumbness is about to lose her the love of the prince, she returns to her native land where she is accused of being a witch and sentenced to death. At the last minute, she is rescued by Prince Charming and the seven swans who, when she throws the hastily finished robes over them, regain their human form.—Pamela Short
