- Opening Title Card: What do girls, in general, and Rosamond Gilbert, in particular, dream of?
- Old Major: I forbid you to sit on the damp ground, lest you catch pneumonia and let all the doctors take my money.
- Rosamond Gilbert: Oh, uncle, just once, couldn't I do whatever goes through my head? I'm sure you did a lot of stupid things back in your younger days!
- Martha, John Squire's Governess: Mr. John, this cannot go on! It pains my heart to see you sad. You must marry.
- John Squire: What woman would want a disillusioned husband like me?
- Title Card: After the death of her uncle, Rosamond, now independent, decides to satisfy her every whim, fantasy and dream.
- Rosamond Gilbert: I wish to wear a Japanese silk dressing gown - and then, my ultimate desire... I wish to marry a true gentleman.
- Rosamond Gilbert: I hope to make my crazy dreams come true, with a little help from my uncle's gold. Why shouldn't I? I want to - and I am able to! I won't do anything foolish, I only want to spread happiness and in that I will be extravagant. I would like to be a beneficent fairy for those in need.
- Martha, John Squire's Governess: For heaven's sake, Mr. John, get rid of those mutton chops. When we go to see a young lady we must attempt to be fashionable.
- John Squire: May you extend the benefits of your magic wand over the infinite sadness of our poor humanity.
- Sydney Brown: Mother believes I'm at a friend's house for a few days. What a joy to be free - to move about without being controlled - at the whim of my fantasy!
- John Squire: I envy your gaiety, your happiness. How do you look at life so joyously?
- Rosamond Gilbert: The secret to true happiness? It is to make those around you happy.
- John Squire: [after seeing Sydney, dressed as a man, kiss Rosamond] That young man you just kissed - is he a family member?
- Rosamond Gilbert: No. Just one of my clients!
- John Squire: What? You allow yourself to be kissed by a gentleman you hardly know?
- Rosamond Gilbert: But that's just his way of expressing his gratitude. You see, I made him very happy!
- John Squire: A proper young lady does not accept such expressions of gratitude. I bid you farewell!
- James Mattison: [to Sydney, dressed as a boy] Sensitive as you are, Sydney, you should have been born a girl.
- Sydney Brown: Maybe you're right!
- Martha, John Squire's Governess: Mr. John - make peace with gentle Rosamond. Do not be too proud. Kiss her. Do this for me - won't you?
- James Mattison: [pleased seeing Sydney, for the first time wearing woman's clothes] I've seen people go through changes in their lives, but never anything like this!
