The Nature Girl - Lost 1919 Film
PamelaShort15 January 2015
Dolores Winthrop ( Violet Mersereau ) lives with her guardian on a secluded island south of the equator. Blanca De Castro, ( Carmen De Córdoba ) Dolore's guardian refuses to reveal her parentage or explain the young woman's presence on the island. Once in a while, the two women receive a visit from a man the local villagers call, " the mad American." Meanwhile, greedy Don Pedro ( Frank Wunderlee ) has heard the American has located a diamond mine, so the scoundrel sets sail for the little island. He locates Blanca who refuses to give him the map, he savagely wounds her, then searches for Dolores. Dolores has met and fallen in love with naturalist Spencer Crosby ( Donald Stuart ) who saves her from Pedro's attack. The dying Blanca reveals that "the mad American" is Dolores' father, having become unbalanced by the death of his wife, when Dolores was a very young child. Happily, he now regains his senses through the loving ministrations of his daughter and Spencer kills the villainous Pedro.

Sadly this dramatic Universal Film Manufacturing Company production, starring popular actress Violet Mersereau, remains a lost silent film.
