Fine And Dandy

Joe Rock and Earl Montgomery are a couple of delapidated swells who want to get inside Max Asher's school for dancing ladies, where they are practicing the Dance of the Seven Veils.

Rock and Montgomery were two members of Vitagraph's "Big V Riot Squad", ready to play incompetent cops, or double for stunts. They promoted themselves into a successful comedy pair for Vitagraph, and starred in more than 40 shorts, until Albert Smith decided why waste two comics in one movie, when he could split them up and make twice as many comedies. This, the second half of the movie, is all that is known to survive of their collaborations.

Montgomery's career seems to have faded out at the end of the 1920s, but Rock went into producing, including some of the comedies that set Stan Laurel's screen character in 1924-1925. He later moved to England, where he produced Michael Powell's landmark THE EDGE OF THE WORLD.
