Pegeen (1920) - Lost Silent Film ?
PamelaShort24 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
When Dan O'Neill ( George Stanley ) becomes mentally unbalanced after the death of his wife Mary, his daughter Pegeen ( Bessie Love ) must fend for herself. Dan spends his days searching for Mary, setting fires in the belief that the flames will illuminate his wife. Enraged by the arson which is slowly destroying their village, the townspeople track Dan down, entrapping him in a burning cabin. Pegeen rushes to comfort her dying father, who consoles himself with the hallucination that his wife has returned in the figure of his daughter. Jimmie ( Charles Spere ) rescues Pegeen from the raging fire, and he proposes to the lovely waif as he delivers her from the flames.

Based on a novel, this drama produced by the Vitagraph Company of America starring Bessie Love, sadly now remains a lost silent film.
