Typical assembly line fast paced gag film. The producers may have been trying to cut costs as there are no special effects, no car chases, in fact no cars at all, which strikes one as rather unusual.The costume department, though, have not skimped and handled their tasks very well. Snub Pollard, here, works for the "speedy messenger service". They're fast, but you have to call 2 weeks in advance! We see some of the other messengers as well, including a height challenged deliverer and one very advanced in age. Snub doesn't think this particular senior citizen is going to make it down the street, so he gives some help by sticking him with a pin in the backside! SP then decides to get under way himself and readies his bike, but another messenger steals it right from under him. The chase is on! When the messenger stops to make a delivery Snub recovers the bike without undue haste. The chase starts anew in reverse. This time a woman and her baby carriage gets in the way, and she is not able to lose them for several blocks. There is the usual man hole cover complete with worker, in which they run/ride over. As the messenger in pursuit gets caught in a gate, SP reaches his destination, that of an artists home. In the backyard, the artist is hard at work. He has some 2 dozen beauties in dazzling identical costumes, ancient Roman style. SP automatically goes to work trying to readjust the womens poses. He then tells the artist to prepare for a new model on her way. He departs, leaving Snub to take over as substitute artist. He continues to repose the women in absurd positions until the new model arrives. She is wearing what looks like a baton twirling costume. If showing off your legs is as sexy as she can get, well, she's pretty sexy! Upon seeing her in this brief get-up, the camera zooms in on Snub's face, and he is very hot under the collar! Next, the artist returns and begins to start a fight with SP. Then the model's over-sized husband appears and everyone runs into the house. Snub hides under a lamp shade, while the artist goes under a table. The husband doesn't have much trouble in finding them. The artist talks him into having a duel with Snub. Snub delays, as he feigns no knowledge of weaponry. Husband becomes impatient, and as he is distracted, Snub pulls out a hide out gun from his sock and shoots him. The chase begins again, and this time Snub tries to lose his pursuer by posing as a statue, complete with spear. Maid dusts said statue, giving his whereabouts away. The wife soon catches up to them and the story concludes in a fitting matter. Running time approximately 14 minutes, print quality very good.
