To reproduce the suite of a San Francisco Hotel, antique hunters located a complete set of Victorian furniture, spending about $30,000. The owner of a hand-carved bed would not sell it, but agreed to let the studio borrow it.
To recreate the Five Points section of New York, photographs of the area were obtained from the New York Historical Society, and the set was built at Culver City studio.
The glass prism candelabra and chandelier originally came from the lobby of the old Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
