Charles Laughton is credited at the beginning of the film along with the other actors. His name appears on the the third bus with titles, on the left under Anna May Wong and above King Hou Chang. This was Laughton's feature film debut.
This film was screened for free at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Saturday 12th September 2009 as part of the Thames Festival. It was accompanied by a live performance of a new score written by Ruth Chen and Suki Mok.
