As we’ve pointed out time and time again, Ariel Winter does and dresses precisely as she pleases. The actress has made no bones about the fact that she will not let anyone body-shame her or her fellow celebs and will continue to fearlessly wear precisely the style of semi-sheer cutout ensembles that she loves regardless of what anybody else has to say about it. Case in point, the super glam look she chose to wear to a screening of the season 8 finale of Modern Family, even when the rest of the cast opted for much more casual ensembles. So,...

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively celebrated the holidays early, meeting Mickey Mouse at Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle on Friday.
The family’s trip to Disneyland came on the same day as their daughter James‘ birthday.
The couple had bright smiles as they gathered close to Mickey Mouse, who was dressed as Santa Claus. Their children were not pictured.
On Thursday, Lively and Reynolds’ children made their public debut at their father’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

Just when we thought Ryan Reynolds was having the best week ever, Mickey Mouse enters the picture to make it even more magical. After earning a Golden Globes nomination, winning a Critics Choice Award and then receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame, the Deadpool star could have totally experienced a low-key Friday if he wanted. Instead, the Hollywood star decided to end the week by celebrating his daughter James' second birthday at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif. Ryan and his wife Blake Lively arrived at the Happiest Place on Earth early in the morning where they posed with Mickey Mouse in front of Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle at Disneyland. But later in the day,...

Con season has well and truly slid into gear now; with Awesome Con kicking things off a few weeks ago and Sdcc and NerdHQ fast approaching. Of course, con season is really year-round these days; but for me, it starts with Awesome Con and ends with New York Comic Con.
This year’s Awesome Con was, as usual, a great start to the season for me. What I like about the con is that despite only being four years old, it’s managed to integrate various fun aspects of different flavors of cons into a fairly seamless whole – meaning that if you aren’t there for one particular facet of the offerings, there are plenty of others to experience. Here were some of the highlights for me:
The media guests:
Awesome Con has consistently done well in getting big names to a young con. This year’s lineup included everyone...

The first round of 2014 Emmy Awards were handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony on Saturday (August 16) night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The ceremony, which precedes the Monday, August 25 Primetime Emmy Awards telecast, offered signs of hope for a number of drama and comedy hopefuls. Netflix's "Orange Is The New Black," for example, won Emmys for editing, series casting and for Uzo Aduba, who is considered a guest actress for the purposes of these awards. No other comedy series was able to build any other momentum going into next week's show, with "The Big Bang Bang Theory," "Nurse Jackie," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" grabbing isolated tech prizes and Jimmy Fallon winning the Guest Actor in a Comedy Series award for the second time in three years for his "Saturday Night Live" hosting duties. The two guest acting awards on the drama side...

Entertainment Geekly is a weekly column that examines pop culture through a geek lens and simultaneously examines contemporary geek culture through a pop lens. So many lenses!
Last week, I asked a simple question: Is the DC Cinematic Universe–the Warner Bros. back-of-the-napkin plan to launch an all-out assault on Marvel Studios by unleashing a double-digit boatload of superhero movies between now and 2020–actually a thing? Will the Man of Steel-verse actually transform into a cape-ier alternative to the Avengers-verse? Or is this a Valiant-Comics-in-1992 thing–a situation where all the elaborate and ambitious universe-building plans will ultimately dead-end...

Welcome to Issue 51 of The Marvelous DA7E!
What Is This? If this is your first time, know that Da7e is a crazy fan of comic book movie franchises. He's less a fan of coherent sentences. He thinks being a fan of something is the greatest way of loving it.
This week: So much happened, let's speculate about our main 3 universes (sorry Fox, try harder)
Oh man, it feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve talked some superhero movie news and rumors. And there’s all this Star Wars stuff happening. While I often feel Bad Robot is laughing at me, I don't always feel that way about my Marvelous Speculations. I get my fandoms a little mixed up like a sweet-sweet cocktail. Other times I wonder if Disney is just my emotional counterpoint, gripping all the franchises I love in their Mickey Mouse gloves without really caring.

Los Angeles (AP) — Buzz Lightyear, meet Captain America. The Walt Disney Co. is adding several Marvel superheros to its toys-meets-games series "Disney Infinity." The company announced plans Wednesday to add more than 20 such characters — beginning with "The Avengers" members Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor and Hulk — in a new installment of the franchise. "Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes" is set for release this fall for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U, as well as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The new 2.0 version of "Infinity" will include several updates, including more ways to upgrade characters, new moves and vehicles like motorcycles. "We wanted to take everything that worked so well and make it epic," said Jimmy Pitaro, president of Disney Interactive, during an event Wednesday at Pacific Theatres' Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. Marvel comic writer Brian Michael Bendis is writing original stories featuring the Marvel characters for the game.

Last year we ran a schedule of every TV/Cable network schedule we could find that could be construed as Horror or Halloween related for the month of October. Let’s just say it proved useful for our readers and even for our staff when they were looking to find something to watch, wanted to program their DVR’s or didn’t want to miss out on some great “live” Horror. Isn’t there something about having a movie fed to you on TV as opposed to watching it on Blu-ray or DVD or streaming? We may not like commercials, but the randomness that you can associate with a TV program itinerary is novel. It removes a little bit of control from the audience who is all to concerned with being in control these days (just look at the reasons behind publishing a piece like this).
So here’s the 2013 Halloween Seasonal TV Preview,...

Anaheim, Calif. — Will the Force be with Disney fans this weekend?
The Walt Disney Co. is cracking open the vault, rolling out the red carpet and pulling back the curtain for more than 45,000 expected fans at this weekend's D23 Expo, a three-day celebration of all things Disney.
The extravaganza across the street from Disneyland at the Anaheim Convention Center will include special musical performances, presentations and previews of upcoming projects.
However, a possible peak at what's to come from the "Star Wars" galaxy could steal the show. Disney bought George Lucas' Lucasfilm empire last year for $4.06 billion and plans to unleash a new "Star Wars" trilogy and two spin-off films beginning in 2015 with "Star Wars: Episode VII," which is being directed by J.J. Abrams and written by Michael Arndt.
Among the live-action films expected to be teased during a Saturday presentation are "Thor: The Dark World," "Captain America: Winter Solider,...

Has Resident Evil's Paul Anderson reined in his unseemly excesses to give Dumas's work the subtle 17th-century detail it deserves?
The world needs another Three Musketeers adaptation like it needs to be kicked in the chest. Over the years, Alexandre Dumas's novel has been churned up again and again with depressing regularity. Gene Kelly was in a Three Musketeers movie. Oliver Reed was in a Three Musketeers movie. Christopher Walken was in a Three Musketeers movie. Charlie Sheen was in a Three Musketeers movie. John Wayne, Tom and Jerry, Mickey Mouse and Barbie have all previously riffed on The Three Musketeers. We don't need any more, let alone this year's 3D adaptation by Resident Evil's Paul Ws Anderson.
But let's not leap to any conclusions. Maybe Anderson has managed to rein in some of his more unseemly excesses to give Dumas the respect his work deserves. Time...

A refusal to heed the advice of highbrow cultural critics is nothing new. But when the public can quickly share their own - different - views on Twitter, Facebook, myDigg and other social media, is criticism dead?

Late last year there was a confluence of critical opinion in America the likes of which the nation hadn't seen in years. Every single film critic in the traditional media – 350 "best" lists, the ads boast – seemed to anoint The Social Network, director David Fincher's semi-fictionalised account of the founding of Facebook, as the movie of the year, maybe even of the decade. Every single literary critic in the traditional media seemed to agree that Jonathan Franzen's Freedom, his saga of a dysfunctional American family, was the novel of the epoch. And just to make it three for three,...

“Deep Vote,” an Oscar winning screenwriter and a member of the Academy, will write this column — exclusively for ScottFeinberg.com — every week until the Academy Awards. He will help to peel back the curtain on the Oscar voting process by sharing his thoughts about the films he sees and, ultimately, his nomination and final ballots, as well. His identity must be protected in order to spare him from repercussions for disclosing the aforementioned information.
Last week, he assessed “Winter’s Bone” (Roadside Attractions, 6/11, R, trailer) and “Solitary Man” (Anchor Bay Films, 5/21, R, trailer). This week, he tackles “Alice in Wonderland” (Disney, 3/5, PG, trailer), “Toy Story 3” (Disney, 6/18, G, trailer), and “Mother and Child” (Sony Pictures Classics, 5/7, R, trailer)…

Here are three movies designed to play off the unconscious feelings of childhood, and only the most grown-up of them even obliquely succeeds in doing so.

Bryan Singer, who directed the two good X-Men films, is coming back to direct X-Men: First Class, which is evidently an origin story about Professor Xavier’s first students. Obviously, all the original actors except Patrick Stewart are going to be way too old to play themselves in this, so I suppose we’re looking at an all-new cast of hot actors. Singer’s always had excellent taste in hot men. Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, and Angel are who need cast, according to Wikipedia. Ideas?
The cast of the U.S. version of Shameless is starting to take shape. We already knew William H. Macy was Frank, but now we find out Emily Rossum will pick up the Fiona role, Allison Janney (goddess) will play a role that sounds like Sheila, maybe, and Justin Chatwin will be Steve, originated by hunky James McAvoy. The cast is stellar, other than Chatwin,...
