Actually two books, both by Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, although the movie borrows heavily from Eva Le Gallienne and Florida Friebus's then-recent stage adaptation. The screenplay for the movie was written by American screenwriter Joseph L. Mankiewicz.
