Edwin Maxwell: Louis Johnson

Quotes

  • Patsy : [after trying to talk to the judge about the bad situation at the reform school, and getting nowhere, a very angry Patsy heads to see Johnson - the ward 's man who swung him the gig]  Listen; Johnson; who is this 'judge Gilbert'? What's he got to do with this, anyhow? I tell you what I want, and I'm gonna get it!

Louis Johnson : Now listen, Patsy...

Patsy : [Waves his gloved hand in the air]  I've been listening long enough.

[Points a gloved finger at Johnson's throat]

Patsy : I didn't squawk when you crossed me out of that park department job, did I?

Louis Johnson : No, this is different. The judge don't want you.

Patsy : Oh! He 'don't want'? Well, I'mi telling you what I want, and I'm gonna get it!

Louis Johnson : Now, my boy...

Patsy : [cuts Johnson off, and points a gloved finger right at his throat]  Or else I take my vote and peddle them elsewhere!

    Hopkins : Oh, listen Pat...

Patsy : [Without even glancing, he pushes his face away]  Now, no stalling. I won't stand for it.

Louis Johnson : It's not so easy. You'll have to go to the old man and see the governor.

Patsy : Well, go to him! Go to the president. I don't care where you go. I want the job of running that joint, and I'm gonna run it my way

Louis Johnson : What way do you want it?

Patsy : That's my business. Now, do I get it, or don't I?

Louis Johnson : All right. Suppose we get it for you. You think you can hold your voters in line down here while your away?

Patsy : Leave that to me I haven't failed yet, have I? Now come on. How about it?

Louis Johnson : All right, Patsy. I'll speak to the old man

Patsy : Now your talking, sweetheart.

[Patsy grabs some cigars from the desk and passes them out, and walks out of the office]

    Patsy : .
