- An escaped convict uses miniaturized humans to wreak vengeance on those who framed him.
- Paul Lavond was a respected banker in Paris when he was framed for robbery and murder by crooked associates and sent to prison. Years later he escapes with a friend, a scientist who was working on a method to reduce humans to a height of mere inches (all for the good of humanity, of course). Lavond, however, is consumed with hatred for the men who betrayed him, and takes the scientist's methods back to Paris to exact painful revenge.—Ken Yousten <kyousten@bev.net>
- After 17 years in prison, formerly-respected Parisian banker Paul Lavond flees with his friend, lunatic scientist Marcel, who with his wife Malita is researching the miniaturization of animals and human beings to improve the resources of mankind. Paul was framed for robbery by his scoundrel associates Emil Coulvet, Charles Matin, and Victor Radin, who had stolen his business while his family was doomed to shame, poverty, and tragedy. When Marcel reduces the mentally-impaired servant Lachna, he learns that the woman is motionless and only responds to the control of his brain and has a heart attack. After his death, Paul sees the chance to use the miniaturization process as an instrument of vengeance. He travels to Paris with the insane Malita disguised as Madame Mandilip, a nice old lady who owns a doll store. Paul, using the identity of Madame Mandilip, befriends his resented and estranged daughter Lorraine and plots a scheme to vindicate his family name.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- After Marcel and Lavond, escape from prison, they make their way to Marcel's home where his wife Malita has continued his experiments in miniaturizing living creatures. Lavond was a successful Paris banker and was falsely imprisoned after his partners accused him of theft. He has no intention of staying as he wishes to seek his revenge. When Marcel dies suddenly of a heart attack, Malita urges Paul to work with her and seek his revenge using their miniaturization technique. As Madame Mandlip, he opens a toy shop in Paris and visits his daughter Lorraine, who despises her father for what he's done to them. His revenge attained, Lavond wants to leave everything behind--but Malita has other plans.—garykmcd
- Paul and Marcel have escaped from Devil's Island, each with a different motivation for that escape. Marcel, a scientist, wants to complete his unfinished work which he believes will be a benefit to the world, namely in the miniaturization of animals, including man, so as not to place as many stresses on the world's limited resources. A former bank executive in Paris, Paul was wrongly convicted 17 years ago of theft and murder in a robbery of his own bank, the crimes actually committed by three of his associates who framed him. He not only wants revenge against the three who still lead a comfortable life as a result, but to clear his name not so much for himself, but for his estranged daughter Lorraine, a laundry employee whom he knows hates him for what she believes he did and is afraid to move on with her life carrying that baggage, the reason she refuses to marry her cabby boyfriend Toto. When Marcel passes away shortly after completing his work, Paul, in Paris in disguise and using an assumed name, teams up with Marcel's wife Malita to carry out his plan of revenge and retribution using an army of miniaturized humans masquerading as dolls. While many things could go wrong, two issues on Paul's side place his plan at risk. First, his and Malita's motivations could end up being incompatible; her end goal is still to miniaturize the animal world in Marcel's name and memory. Second, Paul wants to re-establish a relationship with Lorraine without her discovering his true identity.—Huggo
