The NYT review notes that Paul Graetz was a German actor who had been exiled by the Nazis. Graetz had only recently arrived from Germany, where he had worked with such giants as Ernst Lubitsch and F.W. Murnau.
The film's most prominent cast member was Chili Bouchier, who through talent, star quality and sheer longevity, would become one of the legends of British filmmaking.
The British effort to lure American directors to make films overseas proved a boon to Mr. Cohen Takes a Walk (1935), as it brought William Beaudine to the sceptered isle to make 13 films, including this gentle 1935 tale of a department store owner out of touch with the next generation.
The film was released on television as Father Takes a Walk.
His on-screen traveling companion, Kenneth Villiers, would play his most notable role a year later as the young space traveler in H.G. Wells' Things to Come (1936). Meriel Forbes (Sally) was the daughter of stage legend John Forbes-Robertson and would marry another stage great, Ralph Richardson, in 1944.
