Plot Summary

Donald is the baggagemaster at a remote railway station. Part of the latest cargo shipment is Hortense the Ostrich, who is a bit too friendly with Donald, and who eats everything in sight, whether it's food or not (mostly not): a concertina, an alarm clock, some balloons, all of which start reacting when Hortense gets the hiccups. Edit
Trivia A sequence featuring a second attempt by Donald to scare a hiccuping Hortense by wearing a painted mask was animated but ultimately cut from the released cartoon. It was likely cut because the mask resembled Frankenstein's monster whose rights were owned by Universal Studios. The scene was unseen by the public until a black-and-white print was found on a 9.5 mm Pathéscope reel entitled "Donald's Disguise". See more »
Goofs Hortense is clearly a female ostrich and should therefore have light brown feathers. However, her color scheme is black and white like that of a male. See more »
