This was the only Oscar winner for Best Short Subject (Cartoon) from the 1930s that was not a Silly Symphony.
The parade of bullfighters consists of caricatures of various Disney artists. The caricatures include (in order of appearance), Bill Tytla (on horseback), Fred Moore, Art Babbitt, Hamilton Luske, and Jack Campbell. The matador himself is supposedly patterned after Walt Disney. The little man bringing up the rear, carrying the matador's sword, is Ward Kimball, the lead animator on the scene.
Snow White allegedly makes a cameo appearance, seen on the stairs and throwing the bullfighter the flowers. However she doesn't at all look like Snow White in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).
The working title for this cartoon was "The Story of Ferdinand".
This is featured in the Swedish version of From All of Us to All of You! (1958), which is shown on TV every Christmas Eve.
