This film received its initial USA telecast Saturday 6 January 1945 on New York City's pioneer television station WNBT (Channel 1). It first aired in Chicago Thursday 13 April 1950 on WENR (Channel 7) and in Atlanta Thursday 27 July 1950 on WSB (Channel 8).
After buying the rights to remake the original French film Street of Shadows (1937), producer Max Schach had only one condition for director Edmond T. Gréville: that Dita Parlo once again play the lead, as he was madly in love with her.
Underwent a restoration in 2022 by Lobster Films from an image nitrate dupe negative of the American reissue and a nitrate print from the British Film Institute.
Inspired by the life of German spymaster Elsbeth Schragmüller, known as Fräulein Doktor and Mademoiselle Docteur, who recruited and trained Mata Hari among others.
