It has long been claimed that, during the cream puff fight, Lorna Gray (Sherry Rumsford) had a cream puff accidentally lodge in her throat. However, she has said that the story is exaggerated. She was quite surprised at its impact and accuracy (as seen in her eyes, on-screen), but she was never in any distress or required any medical attention.
In The Three Stooges short Punch Drunks (1934), Moe Howard orders burnt toast and a rotten egg. Curly Howard then asks why, and Moe says he has a tapeworm, and that's good enough for it. That gag is repeated in this film, except this time Curly orders the burnt toast and rotten egg and Larry Fine asks about it.
At one point Curly Howard says he's so broke, "I'm as flat as a floogie," a reference to Slim Gaillard's 1938 pop song "Flat Foot Floogie".
Eddie Laughton actually appears 2 times in this show as both a painter and also a party /dinner guest. This dessert throwing scene starts off with a pleasantly less frantic pace -much appreciated- to permit the extended camera expressions on the faces of the guests after they have been hit in the face........ Later -of course it evolves into the classic "frantic" dessert throwing. Love it.
