Lilo & Stitch – Although nobody seems to agree when the Disney “Golden Age” of the 1990’s ended, everybody concedes that by the time the 2000’s rolled around, the quality of their theatrical releases had nosedived hard. And although they had a number of genuinely good movies released among the dreck they fast became known for, all of them were looked over. A 21st Century reimagining of the story of the Ugly Duckling, Lilo & Stitch is the story of a young Hawaiian girl and her guardian sister struggle to stay together as a family. Complicating matters is that she

Remember that giant statue of the Man of Steel in Superman v Batman? Well, on the Marvel side of things, Captain America is getting his own effigy, for real. Here’s hoping it won’t get defaced like Superman’s did (but, hey who knows what we can really hope for when you consider the latest revelation about Cap in the comics). Just after American Independence Day, USA Today revealed Marvel’s plans for the 13-foot bronze statue of the patriotic superhero. (Alas, they decided it wouldn’t be the best use of resources to make it out of vibranium.) The statue will be unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con later this month, then will take a cross-country trip before arriving at its final destination, Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. The statue will feature the inscription “I’m just a kid from Brooklyn,” words Steve Rogers spoke in the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger,...

ABC's "Once Upon a Time" Season 4 ended with the name "Emma Swan" shown on the Dark One's Dagger. So now our main hero, The Savior, is also The Dark One. That should be interesting, dearies... Ouat Season 5 will premiere Sunday, September 27 at 8 p.m., and creators Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis have only just begun to work on the scripts. But they recently teased some details to Zap2it, and it sounds like a heavy focus will be on Jennifer Morrison's character.
When Zap2it asked for a one-word description for Season 5, Kitsis answered: "Swan." Not Emma. Not Darkness. Swan. A swan is a symbol of beauty, so maybe we'll see an Ugly Duckling-like story. Whatever happens, "Captain Swan" shippers who love Captain Hook with Emma Swan are ready to embrace Captain Dark Swan. That's not to say that Emma will dominate the season, since Horowitz told Zap...

Jade-Martina Lynch never thought she'd make it as a Big Brother housemate, even though it had been on her bucket list for years. "I don't really find myself quite interesting," she joked when we met her at the contestants' secret hotel, where they're all being holed up before Tuesday's big launch night.
But Big Brother bosses must have disagreed, as Jade-Martina's about to head into the house. Before she did, though, we grabbed her for an exclusive chat about her dislike of the Catholic church, her polyamorous lifestyle and her history of being bullied...
1. Jade-Martina is doing the show to learn more about herself.
"I've never felt ready enough to do it until now, and I never thought I'd get in, but the reason why I want to do it is because I want to find someone else who's like me, because I've never met anyone like me," she said.

Today marks the ten year anniversary of the first day we all woke up without Friends in our lives. On May 6th 2004, the most enduring sit-com in the history of television screened its last ever episode (to date, anyway, despite the annual clamour for its stars to stop trying to make movies, or moonlighting in other inferior TV shows) and left a gaping hole in the schedule that was almost too great for even The Big Bang Theory to fill (in the Uk at least.)
That Friends continues to be such an enduring presence and cultural phenomenon is testament to just how important it was to its fans: it was more than just a TV show, which is precisely why the re-runs, which run multiples times a day and fill thousands of scheduled TV hours are so veraciously watched even a decade on, and with very little chance that...

Innovative animator whose credits include Lady and the Tramp, Petroushka and Grease
The pioneering animator John David Wilson, who has died aged 93, launched his studio, Fine Arts Films, in 1955 and found success with his first short subject, an adaptation of a Japanese folk tale, Tara the Stonecutter, which was screened in America with Teinosuke Kinugasa's Oscar-winning samurai drama Jigokumon (Gate of Hell, 1953). Next came Petroushka (1956), for which Igor Stravinsky (despite negative feelings towards animation following Disney's Fantasia) was persuaded by Wilson to prepare a shortened score for the film and conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic for the soundtrack. Petroushka won several festival awards and was the first animated film to be accepted by the Venice film festival.

Remember when Netflix was the future of the entire media industry? First it created a DVD-by-mail service that made the entire Blockbuster era look like a bad joke. (Remember late fees? Remember the horrible selection, with nothing before 1983?) People nostalgic for Blockbuster are like aging Russian widows who lay flowers at Stalin’s grave. Then Netflix accelerated us into the era of streaming video, creating a massive archive of instantly accessible movies and TV shows. Last May, a study found that Netflix accounted for a fifth of all the internet traffic in North America.

The holidays can be a stressful time. To combat those inevitable surges of annoyance that arise only around family, we've complied a selection of Christmas songs that just might help keep those feelings at bay. Some have Christmas-sounding titles (but have nothing to do with Christmas), some are about Christmas (but not in the traditional vein), and others are covers of traditional Christmas songs by untraditional people (we're looking at you, Scott Weiland). From Kanye and Mogwai to Kate Bush and The Ramones, there's a little something for everyone here -- just don't play the ones marked "Not Safe for Home" around the kiddies. So the next time you feel the urge to talk back to your mom, take a moment to pause, press play and let the music drown out the comebacks.

Issues #1-5 of Sweet Tooth introduced us to an innocent young boy with antlers, who was thrust into a world he didn’t know to face a fate he didn’t ask for. It’s an Ugly Duckling story set in a world mixed between Children of Men and The Walking Dead. However, this story is anything but cliché post-apocalyptic tale. Jeff Lemire created something bold and unique when he mixed his expressively grizzled artwork with a suspenseful, page-turning story. Oh, and the dialogue is outstanding too.
Sweet Tooth Vol. 2: In Captivity collects issues #6-11 of the Vertigo comic series. In Vol. 1, we were introduced to Gus, the boy with antlers who lost his loving father –the only person he ever knew. Shortly after breaking into the wild, he is discovered and rescued by a hardened man named Jepperd. He had a rifle and a fighter’s spirit. Gus...

"American Idol" has now entered its 9th season, and in spite of the better angels that call to me, I, like 30 million other people who tuned in for the premiere, still persist in watching the stupid show. I don't want to, but I do. Inconceivably commercial, it's a manipulative and cloying enterprise in which an original voice is discovered, and then systematically stripped of all originality and sold back to the viewer. I swear to God, it's actually an insult to the intelligence, but there I am, always watching.
"American Idol" fatigue has been settling upon many of us for years. The show, which seems to be on TV constantly, has taken on the joyless characteristics of one long, drawn-out election campaign. The contestants, having studied the show for years, are now as savvy and spontaneous as Hillary Clinton. The would-be idols who are trotted out each night aren't crazy...

Not only can these boys sing and dance and look mighty fine, they also have a vision for their career and have escaped the trap of former X Factor stars. The one that sees you releasing albums for Mother’s Day then fading into obscurity!
‘Everybody In Love’ is no ‘Beat Again’, but it has a melodic and catchy quality that makes it seep into your brain and has you singing it over and over again.
God, I love these boys!

Currently in pre-production, Hans is based on the works of Hans Christian Anderson with a scifi twist, androids! A Thailand/Singapore co-production, Wisit Sasanatieng will be directing with Eric Khoo producing. I love the sound of it!
Hans is a tribute film to Hans Christian Andersen. Borrowing characters from his books such as the Steadfast Tin Solider, the Ugly Duckling and the Little Match Girl, the film is set in the not too distant future. It traces the adventures of android Hans (meaning Brave in Thai). Built with a defective leg, Hans is sold off to a local Bangkok mafia boss to be his bodyguard. In the dark and crime ridden streets of Patpong, he befriends a little girl droid who sells matches and it is also there in one of his boss’ A-Go-Go bars that he chances on and falls in love with a beautiful but mute dancer android who once was a mermaid.

Oh, it’s going to be a busy year for Tears of the Black Tiger director Wisit Sasanatieng. With star Ananda Everingham finally healthy following a serious motorcycle accident production is about ready to begin on Red Eagle and it now appears as though he will be following that immediately with another project, the just-announced Hans. A co-production between Thailand’s Five Star Entertainment and Singapore’s Gorylah, Hans was created and will be produced by acclaimed Singaporean director Eric Khoo with Sasanatieng at the helm.
