Italian children's movie from WW2
Mozjoukine1 August 2006
Filmed competently but without distinction in the black and white conventions of the Italian pre-Neo Realist cinema, in this WW2 version of the several times made children's adventure yarn, the boy hero again makes his way across South America to find his mum in California.

The staging and cast are theatrical, short on young or attractive people. The incidentals are more involving than the story - the awful vaudeville turns, the vision he has, half frozen, or the dream of the familiar square.

This one prefigures the Spaghetti western, with its wagon train and shoot outs. The director also did a version of RESURRECTION in this period.
