Trivia Bill Noble wrote the screenplay while a student at the University of Washington, and submitted it to MGM as part of the studio's "junior writing program". MGM bought the script, brought in veteran screenwriter Ian McLellan Hunter to help polish the script, and then the studio put Noble on its payroll. However, this is his only produced screenplay.
