Watchable

Warning: Spoilers
I post a review for any film that lacks one, so here goes... my note is similar to the synopsis. As follows 'Set in N. Ireland a man is deserting the IRA, his brother accidentally kills a policeman while smuggling to get money for his brother's escape. Both are in love with the same girl, and the policeman's dog keeps on the trail of the killer! It's watchable in the Talking Pictures print which has 30 min's missing!' I think it's worth adding that this cut print recently shown on TP is coherent and despite the small budget there appears to be some location shooting and the acting is decent. Any fans of old British films should feel it's worth 45 minutes of their life, lets see if anyone else offers a different opinion.

Reminiscent of the Informer

Warning: Spoilers
This is the debut of Kieran Moore, star of many films of the fifties and sixties. He married his co star Barbara White.

The film at times reminded me of The Informer. As Moore is literally dogged by his conscience in the form of the victims dog.

As in The Informer Moore goes to a church to sort out his conscience as his brother is going to be charged with the murder. Finally he gives into his own conscience and we see him going into the police station, presumably to confess.

The copy shown by Talking Pictures was a forty six minute cutdown of an original seventy four minute original. A narration has been used to paper over the cracks.
