Futuristic humor was the subject of many features produced in the postwar years. Robots were especially popular for silly spoofs, including the 1966 Doris Day film The Glass Bottom Boat. Although audiences might have chuckled at the concepts, automation, mechatronics engineering and robotics have become mainstream in the present day (2022) though they have not (yet) replaced human effort and ingenuity.
