Fandango was one of the first successes for Luis Mariano and gets off to a good start as we are introduced during the credits to some of the characters as they appear along a road. The tenor and his sidekick played by Raymond Bussieres are fired from their respective jobs as garage mechanic and waiter though they will later switch them. They land up at a family inn run by that great character actress Claire Gerard where there are two daughters to court, Mariano will serenade one of them played by Ludmilla Tcherina though there will later be some jealousy when he brings two blonde sisters who had gotten into an accident to the inn.The place is in such need of business that they even resort to changing road signs to divert potential customers. Highlights are the title song done on a merry go round with a crowd joining in, and a song about the rain, which comes down on a wedding party dining at the restaurant.
