When Blanche's brother shows up unexpectedly, it causes such a rift between Blanche and Harry that she decides to leave him. Blanche and Roger take up residence at the Burns' home, so George rooms with Harry, fearing his own divorce.
Gracie ships George's new gray suit to Roger, but when George gets wind of it, he intercepts the package. Meanwhile, Gracie concocts a phony story about a burglary and gets everyone involved - even the police.
George has an appointment to take a physical exam, but each time he's prepared to leave a distraction pulls him away from his car and Gracie absconds with his keys.
Blanche threatens to resign from The Ladies of Oyster Bay if Gracie isn't permitted membership, but first she must pass a literary quiz, so Mrs. Sohmers decides to help Gracie cheat. Meanwhile, Harry Von Zell offers to teach Ronnie judo.
Ronnie lands a job at as an electric-razor salesman in a department store and Gracie gets him promoted to refrigerator sales. Unfortunately, they forget to share this news with George, who unknowingly orders refrigerators for his staff.
As part of his plan to become a dramatic actor, Ronnie changes his name to Cobb Cochran, so Gracie changes her name to Lola Benedict, but a misunderstood phone call leads everyone to believe George is cheating on Gracie with Lola.
