Sex & Nudity

  • Pictures of pin-up girls are seen a boy's locker. These include: a woman in the bath (bubbles obscure any detail), a fully clothed can-can girl and a woman in a swimming costume. No actual nudity is seen.
  • References to "dirty" books: The Decameron, Samuel Pepy's Diary and Casanova's Memoirs. These are very innocuous references and without knowledge of the books the audience would probably assume they are disliked as they are not to the women's tastes.
  • One kissing scene, very mild and romantic.

Violence & Gore

  • None as such. Some slapstick pratfalls, but nothing offensive.

Profanity

  • A few uses of the word hell in a comical way.
  • References to a "bastard purple butterfly" - this is the correct non-Latin name for a specific species of butterfly and not a form of cursing in this context.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Drugs: None
  • A specific Public House is mentioned a few times by adults, it is implied that this is a regular haurnt for most off the staff.
  • Frequent cigarette smoking - bare in mind smoking was extremely common in the 1950s and was considered a social norm.
