The inscription on Gail's locket reads : "From Mother and Daddy 6-14-49"
Jane Wyatt was borrowed from 20th Century-Fox for this film. She didn't think much of the role until she was cast in the popular television show Father Knows Best (1954) as a result of her performance in this picture.
Note the not-too-subtle depiction of Gail's biological mother living "on the other side of the tracks" - literally. The address Mrs. Macaulay writes down states it is in Long Beach, but the filming location is at the same street address in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. The house is really right across the street from several railroad tracks. As of 2021 the house is still standing.
