Sex & Nudity

  • Prisoners of war are told to bathe in some open water. Bare-chested men are seen in the mid distance. In another scene, several men ride ride bare chested in order to make a river crossing. No other nudity.
  • In a covered wagon train, one woman is a passenger among dozens of men. One night, they hold a square dance and the woman dances and flirts with different male partners. She asks the protagonist to help her put on her dancing shoes. Kneeling, as he holds her bare ankle, he slips on the shoes. This was considered major flirting for the era. Film ends with a romantic kiss.

Violence & Gore

  • Several gun battles, first from Indian attack and then from a gang of thieves. Many men are shot but no blood or gore.

  • One night, outriders on the covered train drink several jugs of strong liquor and and become rowdy.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Several major characters die during the film. During a river crossing, there is a drowning death.
