Supernatural season 13 will premiere one day before Friday the 13th, so it's only appropriate that the show's post-production team released a horror-filled new teaser. The video is all about "Lucky Number" 13, but things aren't looking so lucky for the Winchesters.

Gunpowder & Sky has teamed with sports content and media outfit Mandalay Sports Media to create sports-themed horror titles, with Lucky Number the first project to come out of the partnership. "Digital audiences are devouring horror films and sports entertainment so it only seemed natural to create content that caters to both passions at the same time," said Van Toffler, CEO and co-founder of Gunpowder and Sky. Multi-platform indie studio Gunpowder & Sky is teaming up with Mandalay Sports Media (Msm), a five-year-old sports content company, on an upcoming film entitled Lucky Number.
The film, to be written by Aaron Cooley (The Campaigners), will be headlined by celebrities from the sports world, and will tell the story of a pro basketball star who makes a deal with the devil and then must transform into a highly athletic murderer. The film is the first in a series of films that Gunpowder and Msm have dubbed ‘Sporror’ that will, they say, for the first time merge the sports and horror genres.

Young actors Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo didn’t have a lot of experience coming into Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” but that ended up working to their advantage.
The ’80s-set thriller is just the fourth role for Wolfhard and the second gig for Matarazzo. Kept from working in Hollywood too long, that means both of them remain untarnished — and better for it. Wolfhard and Matarazzo have the natural screen presence of children who are just being kids.
Wolfhard plays Mikey, the leader of the group searching for their missing friend. “He can be really precocious at times, really funny, and then really serious — solemnly serious about finding his best friend, Will,” Wolfhard said. “And I think that’s why I like him, because he can be so relatable to people who grew up in the ’80s. They can be like, ‘Hey, I was kind of like that,’ or ‘I had a friend like that.

Netflix’s new original series “Stranger Things” is a hit with critics and the public alike. People love the show’s cast, central mystery, and its various homages to ’80s legends like Steven Spielberg and John Carpenter, but most of all, they can’t wait for a second season. In a new interview with Variety, the series’ creators Matt and Ross Duffer, colloquially known as The Duffer Brothers, discussed creative choices regarding the season at large, including how to pace out the extent of Eleven’s powers and her true origins, whether the government conspiracy angle will be a long-term mystery for the show, and the Upside Down monster.
They also dropped a tiny clue about whether Chief Jim Hopper knows the true extent of Eleven’s whereabout at the end of the season, and potentially putting Hopper and Eleven together in upcoming episodes.

Netflix’s new sci-fi horror series “Stranger Things” premiered last Friday to positive critical reception, with many critics noting the series’ debts to the work of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, and Stephen King. There are many who have already binged the whole series already and there are plenty who still haven’t started, but Netflix has provided some great trivia about the series that will be fun for new or experience viewers.

Today, the Film Society of Lincoln Center announces that Ava DuVernay’s documentary ‘The 13th’ will open the 54th annual New York Film Festival in September. It will be the first-ever nonfiction work to open the festival. Named for the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, the film chronicles the history of racial inequality in the United States, examining how our country has the highest incarceration rate in the world, with the majority of prisoners being African-American. From the rebirth of the Kkk to the Black Lives Matter movement, DuVernay traces the history of racism in the U.S. and how such fear and division facilitate a system that drives such mass criminalization. Using a mix of archival footage and testimonies from politicians, activists, and formerly incarcerated men and women, DuVernay creates an untold history for the world to watch.

If you’re a Canadian under the age of 40, you’ve never known a world without “Degrassi.” One of television’s most globally iconic shows, the teen soap opera has been on the air in one form or another since 1979. And that’s thanks to the hard work of creator Linda Schuyler, who brought the show to life, as she explains below, because she was so frustrated by the fact that the junior high school kids she was teaching had no television made specifically for them.

“Degrassi” is airing its 500th episode this week, and a lot of familiar faces are showing up to celebrate the milestone. Notably absent from the announcement video, which was first posted to the “Degrassi” Facebook page, is one Jimmy Brooks, Aka Drake. The popular basketball star was bound to a wheelchair after a school shooting — easily one of the show’s most over-the-top incidents, which is saying a lot — but remained a fan favorite. The rest of the gang is mostly accounted for, however: Craig, Paige, Liberty, Marco, Spinner, Emma et al.

A review of tonight's The Americans coming up just as soon as I vandalize a payphone for the greater good... "The sentence of death will remain unchanged. It will be carried out shortly." -Soviet administrator Let's start off with a transcript of every single conversation I had with other TV critics after one of us had just finished watching tonight's episode. If the phrasing wasn't identical from one conversation to the next, it was pretty damn close: Other critic: "Nina Sergeevna!!!!!!!" Me: "Niiiiinaaaaaaaa!!!!!" Other critic: "Those bastards!" Me: "Fields and Weisberg are inhuman monsters!" Other critic: "I can't believe they killed her off! Nina is the best!" (long pause) Me: "But they had to do it." Other critic: "Oh, absolutely." We make a pact with our dramas — particularly the profoundly serious, ambitious ones like The Americans — where ask them to fully commit to the implications of their stories, and where...

One of my favorite Oscar nominations this year was Mark Bridges getting the call for his work on Paul Thomas Anderson's "Inherent Vice." I only wish David Crank and Amy Wells could have joined him because the design of this film was out of sight (to say nothing of Robert Elswit's lush lensing). Still, it's sort of serendipitous that it's Bridges and Anderson (in the adapted screenplay category) representing the film, as like Elswit, their collaboration goes all the way back to the beginning, but unlike Elswit (who won the Oscar for "There Will Be Blood"), Bridges had yet to be recognized for a PTA movie. I talked to Bridges, who did get his own trip to Oscar's stage for "The Artist" a few years ago, about that and a whole lot more earlier this week. The research and engineering that went into bringing these costumes — and, by proxy,...

Lucky number seven. That.s how many times Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman has played curmudgeon (and killer) Wolverine on screen in various X-Men films since first donning the claws in Bryan Singer.s X-Men. His latest foray into mutant mayhem opens on Friday, May 23, and is called X-Men: Days of Future Past. If you didn.t know yet, it.s a massive telling of an infamous X-Men story that stretches from a post-apocalyptic future to the distant past, where Wolverine (Jackman) has to reunite a splintered X-Men team and prevent the creation of the Sentinels . mutant-hunting robots who are a serious threat to our planet. Recently, though, I had the distinct honor of sitting across from Hugh Jackman and talking all things X-Men: Days of Future Past and his experiences as Wolverine. It.s not often an actor plays any role as often as Jackman has played Logan on screen.

“Applause,” the first single from Lady Gaga’s forthcoming third studio album Artpop, popped up online this afternoon. Here are ten snap judgment thoughts. 1. Lene Lovich, met Stefani Germanotta. Like other pop divas before her, Lady Gaga is summoning the spirit — that is, jacking the style — of the hiccuping British New Wave hoyden, from whom she’s also learned a thing or two about fashion-forward stagewear. Listen to Gaga’s stentorian vocals in the first verse. “Lucky Number,” anyone? 2. Sonically, she’s trimming her sails. The production, by Gaga and D.J. White Shadow, is a return to straightforward dance-pop after the gusty “rock” moves of Born This Way. Was Gaga spooked by that album’s sluggish sales and chart performance? 3. The chorus is a winner, as toothsome as any Gaga tune since “Bad Romance.” It would sound just fine crooned over acoustic guitar — as it no doubt will be,...

The reason? Bruce Willis. Ever since his two spectacular dramatic performances for M. In another senseless act of violence, the BBC reports that the Sony/Pias distribution centre warehouse in Enfield, North London was sadly destroyed in the riots in London on 8th August.
