La Vendetta Del Corsaro is a briskly moving, richly designed and costumed swashbuckler which compares favorably with the Errol Flynn or Tyrone Power period adventures America was turning out around the same time. It especially benefits from a stirring score by musical maestro Carlo Rustichelli.
There is quite a bit of action though the plot pivots mainly on the search by nobleman turned priveteer played by the dashing Jean Pierre Aumont for his missing sister who it turns out is the Lady Jane of a sultry marquise played by Maria Montez in her swan song, the sister is also being hunted down by a sinister governor. Some opportunities for romancing between these two leads both of whom are decently postsynched by the Italian dubbers.
The film is a remake of a 1943 Fascist era pirate adventure and in turn was redone one more time by director Zeglio in color and widescreen.
