  • Drugs, recreational: None.
  • Smoking: None.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • This film is a dark and intense tragedy.
  • Some might be offended at the fact a white man plays a black character and wears dark make-up to make him look more like a Moor.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • The opening depicts a man being tortured by being placed inside of a bird cage and being harnessed up by a rope to dangle in the air.
  • At the end, Othello murders Desdemona after falsely accusing her of adultery. Emilia then reveals the truth of her innocence, and she is then killed by Iago for exposing his lie. Upon learning she is innocent, Othello goes into a rage and stabs Iago (though he does not succeed in killing him). Othello then commits suicide for his evil act. This is follows the play itself, and none of this is even remotely graphic in this film's depiction of it.
