Monty Python and the Holy Grail isn't 39 this year, nor is it 41: it's 40. 40 years old. And to celebrate the classic big screen comedy's anniversary, the Pythons have put on a very special sing-a-long screening at a cinema near you.
You'll be able to watch The Black Knight get his legs hacked off on Wednesday, October 14 at these 500 cinemas. Hint: it's pretty much everywhere, excluding Camelot (which isn't a real place).
The screening will be accompanied by a brand new introduction from some guys called Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, Eric Idle and John Cleese.
The press release makes a few house rules clear in advance: "Cinema-goers are encouraged to don a tabard. White rabbits will not be admitted." Take note, white rabbits.
As you'd expect, there's a special trailer to honour the special day (see above), as well as a rather odd boxset, which allows you to fire cows out of a catapult.

Darth Vader #7
Written by Kieron Gillen
Drawn by Salvador Larroca
Colored by Edgar Delgado
Lettered by Joe Caramagna
Published by Marvel Comics
For any Star Wars fan, it’s a familiar sight: a boy named Skywalker staring off into the distance under Tatooine’s twin suns. His past is a series of choices that were out of his hands to make and his future is as yet unwritten. He’s a kid from a backwater planet who will one day hold the destiny of a galaxy in his hands. You probably know the picture or recognize the description but in Darth Vader #7, Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca turn the image upside down. Instead of an idealistic and young Luke Skywalker looking towards the future, Gillen and Larroca show us Vader in that very similar pose on the Lars desert homestead, where Tatooine is a past that he cannot escape.

In the next part of his series, Alex talks us through the film careers of the second and fourth Doctors, Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker...
Read Alex's retrospective on the film careers of William Hartnell and Jon Pertwee, here.
Like their fellow Time Lord actors, William Hartnell and Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker also shared certain genres of film. Both appeared, before and after their time as the Doctor, in horror movies and both worked on Ray Harryhausen Sinbad films.
Patrick George Troughton was born in Mill Hill, London on March 25th 1920. He made his film debut aged 28 in the 1948 B-Movie The Escape. Troughton's was a very minor role. Among the better known cast was William Hartnell, though even Hartnell's role was small and the two didn't share any scenes together. From the late Forties, Troughton found more success on the small screen,...

When people talk about violence in media influencing children, they usually mean that violent TV shows, movies, and video games make people want to commit violent acts. The assumption is that what is presented onscreen is appealing, because it is represented in a stylized manner that distances the audience from the actual effects of violence. But inside that idea lurks a darker secret: if watching violent images incites viewers to violence rather than repulsing them, does that mean that the people who worry about violent films believe that humans are inherently violent?
But regardless of the psychological motivators for watching violent films and TV shows, it is undeniable that violence (and particularly gore) carries with it a certain fascination. Whether it’s fun and cartoonish violence like Tom and Jerry and Kung Fu Hustle or dark and probing violence like in the Saw series, watching simulated acts of bodily damage is oddly intriguing.
