A rare collection of artwork featuring concepts for Disneyland rides and areas that never were built has been sold at auction. Heritage Auctions handled the sales earlier this month in Beverly Hills, California.
The event spotlighted hand-drawn sketches from the Bradley/Bushman Early Disneyland Archives, which conceptualized rides and themed lands for the Disney theme park in Anaheim.
Among the theme park plans and concepts was an “Anything Can Happen” land, and plans for underwater aquariums. In the latter, guests would have walked into the mouths of the crocodile from Peter Pan or Monstro, the whale from Pinocchio, to view marine life.
Another concept detailed an 80-foot-tall statue of Goofy dressed as a clown. The colossus would have been located where the theme park’s Sleeping Beauty Castle now stands.

Ryan Gosling has been one of the most popular actors in Hollywood for decades. He began acting as a young kid and rose to prominence by 13. He has appeared in some of the best independent films and major studio features in his career, spanning nearly three decades.
Ryan Gosling in Blade Runner 2049
For someone as charismatic and talented as Gosling, one would assume he has had it easy since the start. However, that is not the case in reality. The actor has had his fair share of struggles when he was growing up. That, however, did not interfere with his journey of becoming one of the best actors or earning 3 Oscar nominations.

Ryan Gosling began acting as a kid and has never looked back. Having made his acting debut on the show- The Mickey Mouse Club alongside future stars like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera, he has shined through as a performer in the years he has spent working as an actor.
Whether it be his dancing skills for La La Land or taking on the risky role of Ken in Barbie, Gosling has never been one to back away from challenges. He unknowingly gave one such challenge to himself when he was filming The Place Beyond the Pines. Ironically, this was the film in which he played the role of the love interest of Eva Mendes, whom he married in reality later.

Ryan Gosling has that Ken-ergy. He’s Ken out of Ken. He’s Kendlessly Kentertaining. He’s the Kend all, be all. He’s the Kenvy of other actors. He’s impossible to not Kenjoy. He’s more, much more, than Kenough.
Gosling has had a long, fruitful career, but it’s safe to say that he’s never committed to a role as hard as he’s committed to the bit that was the “Barbie” press tour. Every interview and soundbite the Canadian actor has given in the publicity run for Greta Gerwig’s take on the iconic Mattel toy line has launched meme after meme, as he’s spoken about the importance of telling the tragic story of Barbie’s beau Ken. Receiving an Oscar nomination for playing an iconic Mattel toy might not have been on Ryan Gosling’s career bingo card a few years ago, but his performance as Ken in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” has nevertheless turned into one of the most acclaimed roles in his filmography. By turning Ken into a himbo undergoing an identity crisis, Gosling managed to provide some of the film’s funniest moments while serving as a key piece of its emotional core.
Finding all of that in a famously neglected doll was no easy task, so Gosling looked to his own life story for inspiration. In a recent interview with Variety, Gosling explained that his background as a child actor helped him find common ground with Ken. After the release of Britney Spears’ tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me, Crossroads, the 2002 road trip film starring Spears, was re-released in theaters last month.
Ann Carli, the film’s producer, and director Tamra Davis, surprised an audience at The Grove AMC in Los Angeles with a Q&a that took place after a screening.
Carli stated that she remembered standing up for Spears when her team attempted to make her work 18-hour shifts each day of production.
“She was super busy,” Carli said. “One of the things that I thought was really important was that she had time to rehearse with the other actors.”
Carli mentioned that “the day before she was shooting, they had a giant Pepsi commercial. It was crazy.”
According to Carli, Spears’ team, at one point during the shoot, “wanted her to be recording at night after she did a full day’s work on the set.

Britney Spears's memoir, "The Woman in Me," is one of the year's most highly anticipated book releases. Few public figures have been more scrutinized than Spears over the years. In spite of that, she's inspired much devotion from fans and fascination from the world at large.
"The Woman in Me" is a sad story, detailing how other people have controlled Spears's life since she was young. Most of us know the individual fragments of her story from tabloids - from the time she shaved her head to her release from her 13-year conservatorship in 2021 - but seeing it all laid out together makes her journey much more clear and still a bit disturbing.
In the book, Britney paints the picture of a hard-working woman who loves to sing and dance and just wants to be good, but was heavily taken advantage of throughout her life, even as she raked in millions of dollars.

The Notebook could’ve been a much different film if Britney Spears starred in the film opposite Ryan Gosling. Spears’ audition tape for the leading role of Allie has been shared online and the casting director for the movie says she beat out many of the top young actresses of the time.
“Britney beat out several of the top female actresses at the time. Scarlett Johansson, Claire Danes, Kate Bosworth, Amy Adams, Jamie King and Mandy Moore auditioned for this role. Britney beat out all of them. Everybody who was anybody that year wanted this part,” casting director Matthew Berry told the Daily Mail.
Barry said that the singer “wasn’t just good — she was phenomenal” in the role. In the audition tape, Spears reads the lines for Allie during a pivotal scene where the fictional character reveals she has plans to marry another man. Spears slowly starts tearing up...

Britney Spears says her father belittled and degraded her while in her 13-year conservatorship, which ended in 2021 but had left her feeling robot-like.
In a new cover story for People, Britney Spears briefly speaks to the magazine about her reason for doing her memoir The Woman in Me, which arrives Oct. 24. The rare interview runs alongside an extensive excerpt that traces her childhood days in The Mickey Mouse Club to making her first album to her infamous head-shaving incident and eventual 13-year conservatorship. Much of the excerpt focuses on control — how much she once had over herself and the result of having that taken away — and the way she was objectified by the industry and her father.
“I’d been eyeballed so much growing up. I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body, since I was a teenager. Shaving my head...

Of the thousands of members of Congress who have served throughout history, few will be remembered, with rare exceptions. Those who become presidents, or Speaker of the House, or have buildings named after them are less likely to be forgotten. Then there are those whose policy stands solidify their legacies. When California Representative Barbara Lee became the lone member of Congress to vote against the war in Iraq in 2001, she became a target of nonstop hate mail and death threats. Now, decades later, as she strives to become just the third Black woman in American history elected to the United States Senate, her willingness to take a stand in the face of such adversity years ago has emerged as a political asset, landing her high-profile endorsements from colleagues like Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.). In the latest THR “Power Watch” column, Lee — who was the subject of the 2020 Starz documentary Barbara...

Full disclosure. Many years ago, I worked at the Disney Channel at the time producers were casting a revival of the kids show “The Mickey Mouse Club.” I don’t know who did the selection of the cast members, but among the then-unknown pre-teens they chose were Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Keri Russell and a gawky 13 year-old Canadian kid named Ryan Gosling. What a cast! All have gone on to great success as adults, but Gosling especially chose his own path to become one of the most respected film actors working today.
In the course of such films as “Half Nelson,” “Blue Valentine, ” and “The Big Short,” Gosling has been nominated for two Academy Awards and four Screen Actors Guild Awards. He has also been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards, which includes a win for his performance in the Damien Chazelle musical “La La Land.”

Simu Liu is clearing the air about his relationship with Ryan Gosling. On July 26, the actor addressed a tense-looking red carpet encounter with his "Barbie" costar that went viral on social media this week. Though fans were quick to assume there's some sort of beef between the actors, it appears all is well in Barbieland.

Over the past 20 years, Ryan Gosling has given audiences several notable performances in both indie and blockbuster films, garnered numerous awards and accolades, and earned a spot as one of Hollywood's most respected actors. He notably started his career in front of the camera as a teen in the early 1990s on "The Mickey Mouse Club" and continued to land minor roles on television throughout the remainder of the decade. By the 2000s, Gosling began acting in movies, with his role as Noah Calhoun in the 2004 film "The Notebook" launching him into superstardom. Since then, he's had leading roles in Oscar-winning films like "La La Land" and "Blade Runner 2049," but he recently received plenty of buzz for his latest work in Greta Gerwig's "Barbie."
"Barbie," which stars Margot Robbie as the iconic fashion doll brought to life, features Gosling as Ken, Barbie's counterpart and companion throughout the film.

Gosling famously began his Disney career by playing one of the Mouseketeers in “The Mickey Mouse Club” alongside the likes of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

He remembered thinking, “Who’s going to take me seriously with the Mickey Mouse stuff? I’ve got to distance myself from it.”

“I hated being a kid,” Gosling said. “A lot of kids feel like they got forced into being a child actor, but I wanted it,...
But when it comes to the actor himself, Gosling once shared he just couldn’t bring himself to enjoy his own films.

Gosling has been a part of the film industry since his childhood years. Many audiences were first exposed to the star during his time in The Mickey Mouse Club with the likes of Justin Timerlake. Ryan Gosling has been preparing to play a Ken doll for 27 years ever since his 1995 screen debut. Don’t believe us? Well, the proof is in Gosling’s filmography…and his “Ken-ergy” quips.
“Finally, it’s happening. This has been coming my whole life,” Gosling joked to Variety of starring in “Barbie.”
Well, we’re opting to take those words quite literally. Two Academy Award nominations later, and Gosling is finally getting his chance to bare his chiseled abs and knockoff Calvin Klein briefs for Oscar-nominated Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” epic, in theaters July 2023.
Sure, it may seem that Gosling’s darker roles may not totally fit in the Mattel-produced Barbie Dream World, but every step in Gosling’s fated path proves he’s been Ken for a long time coming. It is all about Ken-presentation, after all.
“I felt like I was seeing myself. I felt seen,” Gosling added.

Nikki DeLoach played a key role in Saturday night’s successful Children’s Hospital Los Angeles gala by securing the night’s headliner, Justin Timberlake, a global pop superstar who just so happens to be her friend of 30 years.
“I just called him and asked and he said yes,” DeLoach explained to The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of her direct line to Timberlake, whom she met at a casting camp for The Mickey Mouse Club. “We instantly became best buddies, like brother and sister, and we have been brother and sister ever since. Is Britney Spears living up to her Toxic song title? It seems as if fellow pop star Christina Aguilera thinks so.
Amidst a controversial post recently made by Britney on Instagram, Christina has decided to officially unfollow her on the platform.
Britney, 40, was under fire as she shared a quote on her page that read, “I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people.”
However, the outrage among Britney’s followers started when they noticed she specifically spotlighted Christina in her caption.
“I wish I could have chosen the nannies for my children … my dancers … I mean if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers I would have looked extremely small,” Britney wrote.

Ryan Gosling has had a long career that stretches back to 1993 when he was only 12 and joined the cast of "The Mickey Mouse Club" alongside Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. From 1998 to1999, he starred in the television series "Young Hercules." After this, Gosling gradually started transitioning to Hollywood movies, but apart from the 2004 hit romance movie, "The Notebook," he mostly stuck to indies.
With the double whammies of the critically acclaimed hits "Drive" and Crazy Stupid Love," 2011 was Gosling's breakout year. He received his second best actor Oscar nomination for the charming musical "La La Land" in 2016. In 2018, after the...

March marked the 65th anniversary of the wrap of the first season of the “Mickey Mouse Club,” and the recent death of one of the original Mouseketeers, Johnny Crawford, reminded fans of the enduring talent that the show, and especially its early 1990s iteration, brought to the entertainment industry. The original “Mickey Mouse Club” launched the career of Annette Funicello, who occupied a beloved niche in audiences’ hearts for six decades, and the 1990s revival produced Oscar nominees and artists who’ve sold tens of millions of albums and redefined pop music and pop culture. But who are the greatest Mouseketeers? It’s a list ready for debate between boomers and gen Z.

Karen Pendleton, one original Mouseketeers from The Mickey Mouse Club in the 1950s, died Sunday of a heart attack in Fresno, CA. She was 73. Author and Disney historian Lorraine Santoli announced the news today.
Known for her shoulder-length blond curls, Pendleton was among the youngest of the original Mouseketeers. She appeared on The Mickey Mouse Club during its entire first run from 1955-59, one of only nine to do so among a regularly changing cast. She famously was paired with Carl “Cubby” O’Brien in the episode-closing “Now it’s time to say goodbye” song. Because of their tender ages, Pendleton and O’Brien originally were “Meeseketeers.” Both were part of what was referred to as the “Red Team” of Mouseketeers, which included Annette Funicello.

“The Simpsons” and “Star Wars Rebels” are the most hotly anticipated of the existing series that will be on Disney Plus in the U.S. and the first foreign countries where the service will roll out, according to new research.
Parrot Analytics measures demand for content by capturing billions of data points from a variety of sources, tracing interactions it refers to as “demand expressions” from the likes of social media, video streaming, photo sharing, blogging, fan and critic ratings, and file sharing. It combines these into a single, country-specific measure of audience demand.
Running the numbers for the pre-existing titles that Disney has said its new platform will offer has produced two clear winners: long-running animated series “The Simpsons,” which belongs to the Mouse following its acquisition of Fox assets, and the “Star Wars Rebels” animated show. The analysis covers Australia and New Zealand, the Netherlands, and the U.

Police in Oregon arrested a man Friday in connection with the death of Dennis Day, an original member of Disney’s The Mickey Mouse Club.
Daniel James Burda, 36, was taken into custody on suspicion of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, abuse of a corpse, criminal mistreatment and identity theft in connection with Day’s death, The Oregonian reported.
Burda previously worked as a handyman for Day at his home outside Medford.
The suspect was already in custody on an unrelated robbery case when he was additionally charged in Day’s death.
The arrest came after police picked up two Oregon women last month on charges related to the theft of several of Day’s personal items.
Wanda Garcia and Lori Declusin faced felony charges for allegedly stealing the former actor’s white 1990s Ford Escort station wagon. Garcia also was accused of selling a brooch that belonged to Day in July...

The remains have not been identified, nor have the police revealed how the remains were discovered, according to The Medford Mail Tribune.

Ryan Gosling has become something of an icon over the years and in many cases has been the kind of guy that women swoon over since he is quite handsome and does have that calm, cool, and collected act down pat. To think that he came from The Mickey Mouse Club when he was just as kid and became a movie megastar is something that a lot of people tend to whistle over since a lot of child stars do move on with their lives after the fame wears off during the years between childhood and adulthood. “The Mickey Mouse Club” first premiered in October 1955 under the leadership of the one and only Walt Disney. The long-lasting variety show served as incubator for more than a few major future stars throughout its run, and during its second iteration in the 1990s, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera all shared airtime as Mousketeers. Here’s a look back at the biggest stars who made appearances on the show.
Annette Funicello
Funicello joined the Mousketeers in 1955 at the age of 12 after being personally discovered at a ballet performance by none other than Walt Disney. She quickly became one of the show’s most popular performers, receiving 6,000 fan letters a week, along with wristwatches and a few engagement rings. Funicello went on to star in several Disney-produced serials and movies, including “The Shaggy Dog” and “Babes in Toyland,” and then switched gears to costar in a...

James Corden’s The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special received the diva treatment as Christina Aguilera joined the talk show host to sing some of her greatest hits. And while they were singing her seminal hit Dirrty, Melissa McCarthy popped up from the backseat just in time to spit the rhymes of Redman’s portion of the song.
While on their song-filled ride (before McCarthy’s cameo), Aguilera and Corden gave the late night talk show host a lesson in diva growling. They also sang some of the Grammy-winning artist’s greatest hits including Fighter, Genie in a Bottle and the ballad Beautiful. They also talked about her class of The Mickey Mouse Club which included Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, J.C. Chasez, Keri Russell, and Ryan Gosling — who Aguilera thinks had a crush on Britney.

On a snowy afternoon in 1958, Annette Funicello, Tommy Cole, and several other The Mickey Mouse Club members were on an East Coast bus tour when they gave one unsuspecting family a huge surprise. "The new Annette series was coming on the air and we wanted to see it," Tommy exclusively recalls to Closer Weekly of the sitcom in which Annette played a rural girl who moves in with rich relatives. "Our bus driver went up to a house that had bikes on the porch — we knew there were kids. He knocked and said, 'I have some of the original Mouseketeers on my bus — can we come in and watch Annette with you?' And they went, 'Oh my!'" By the third season of The Mickey Mouse Club, Annette had become the most beloved girl in America. The Mickey Mouse Club cast. No, Ryan Gosling doesn’t have a meth detour in this episode of “Saturday Night Live,” but in terms of coming back strong, you could probably do a better job than get someone who can’t make it through a sketch without breaking. He’s not particularly good at the transition, but you want him to like you, so you laugh at his jokes. As he also laughs at his jokes. Earlier this year, Disney announced a digital-native reboot of The Mickey Mouse Club, the program that launched the careers of then-youngsters like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake back in the 90s. The song in question is called "Something To Fight For," and it is sung by Leanne Tessa, who is best known for her clips on Instagram. While she belts out positive and inspiring lyrics, Jenna Alvarez and Will Simmons perform a dance to the music. The video is available, like most of the new Mickey Mouse Club content, via Facebook. It is not embeddable, but...

Image Source: Getty / Christopher Polk We all know Ryan Gosling can move, but it seems he doubts his beautiful body's ability to break it down from time to time. The actor, who got his start on The Mickey Mouse Club, opened up about his sweet history with dance in the October issue of The Red Bulletin. "I had been training [in ballet], but never got to the point where I was comfortable with it," he said. "It was a struggle for me. I had an option to do ballet when I was a kid, but thought it was too girly. So I didn't spend the time on it that I should have. But I really wish that I had, because it can bring such a benefit to your life."
