Yes Minister/Yes, Prime Minister was a BBC sitcom that ran for five series and one special between 1980 and 1988. It starred Paul Eddington as the Right Honourable James Hacker MP (later Prime Minister), Nigel Hawthorne as Sir Humphrey Appleby, Permanent Secretary to the Minister for Administrative Affairs (later Cabinet Secretary) and Derek Fowlds as Bernard Woolley, Principal Private Secretary to the Minister for Administrative Affairs (later Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister). It was written by Sir Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, and was a favourite show of then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

A man has been shot by police after attempting to gain entry to the U.K. Parliament and attacking police officers with a knife, according to multiple news reports. Authorities said that they are currently treating the situation in London as a “terrorist incident.”
Witnesses told the U.K.’s The Telegraph that a car crashed into the fence on Westminster Bridge on Wednesday afternoon, hitting several pedestrians, and photographs show several bloodied people on the ground. At least one woman has been confirmed dead in the attack, reported the U.K.’s press association.

One of the biggest questions that Brendan Rodgers faced during his time at Liverpool was whether or not he was able to attract big-name players to Anfield. Through no fault of his own Rodgers hadn’t been in management long enough to develop world class allegiances and all he brought to the Reds was a distinctly average Joe Allen from his sprightly Swansea days.
New coach, Jurgen Klopp has double the amount of management experience than Rodgers and after spending six years in charge of Borussia Dortmund he has a wealth of friendships, loyalties and professional admiration among his peers. This would no doubt have been a key factor in Tom Werner and John W Henry’s decision to sack Rodgers and appoint the German manager as a coach of Klopp’s magnitude (or in fact, their second choice, Carlo Ancelotti) don’t come along very often.

Charlie Brooker couldn't help but get involved in the Twitter chat after remarkable allegations that David Cameron once "put his private parts in a dead pig's mouth" emerged last night.
You may remember that Brooker's Channel 4 anthology drama Black Mirror featured an episode titled 'The National Anthem', in which the Prime Minister (Rory Kinnear) had sex with a pig on live TV in order to free a princess from a supposed terrorist.
While there was apparently no princess involved in this alleged real world story from former Tory treasurer Lord Ashcroft, it's hard to avoid the obvious similarities.
Shit. Turns out Black Mirror is a documentary series.

David Letterman made a surprise visit to Martin Short and Steve Martin's A Very Stupid Conversation stage show Friday night in San Antonio, and the former Late Show host used the opportunity to gleefully mock beleaguered presidential hopeful Donald Trump. Making his first onstage appearance since retiring with an epic blowout on May 20th, a bearded Letterman expressed regret that his Late Show departure just missed Trump's candidacy, which would have been perfect fodder for late night television.

Winston Churchill, Harriet Jones, Harold Saxon... As we all head to the voting booths, how have UK prime ministers fared in Doctor Who?
Incarnations of the Doctor are a bit like British prime ministers. They usually last four to five years in real time and, despite having different faces, a cynic could say that they're all pretty much the same beneath the surface. But that's the stuff of Media Studies dissertations, in fact, Doctor Who has a far dimmer view of the UK executive in the show itself.
Over the course of fifty-odd years, the office of prime minister has been both the target and agent of satire and parody in a show that deals with an onslaught of alien activity on British soil in the past, present and future.
As we're all going to the polls today to pick who we want in Downing Street, here's our look back...

Parliament has been dissolved, there are no longer technically any MPs and the six-week General Election campaigns have started – all in anticipation of the British public going to the ballot box on May 7 to vote for who they wish to be the leader of the next government.
The man who is looking to wrestle control of the Houses of Commons back into Labour hands and take-up his first term as Prime Minister in the process is 45-year-old Edward Samuel “Ed” Miliband – who has served as Leader of the Opposition throughout almost the entirety of David Cameron’s stay at Number 10 Downing Street to date.
Miliband was a somewhat surprise choice to be Labour leader back in September 2010, but since his election he has attempted to push the party back towards the left and to establish himself as a credible alternative to Prime Minister Cameron.

Parliament has been dissolved, there are no longer technically any MPs and the six-week General Election campaigns have started – all in anticipation of the British public going to the ballot box on May 7 to vote for who they wish to be the leader of the next government.
The current incumbent at Number 10, Downing Street, is Conservative leader David Cameron – who has been Prime Minister since May 2010. Having formed a Coalition Government – the first peacetime UK coalition since the 1930s – between his own Tory Party and Nick Clegg’s Liberal Democrats in May 2010, Cameron has proved all his critics wrong by leading the administration through a full five-year term.
Cameron’s first term as Prime Minister will always be remembered for the severe austerity measures that were introduced in order to deal with Britain’s ever-increasing national debt, but the Coalition also implemented large-scale legislative changes in welfare, immigration, education and healthcare.

The running order for the forthcoming party leaders' debate has been revealed.
Green Party leader Natalie Bennett will speak first on Thursday night's (April 2) two-hour live debate on ITV, with Prime Minister David Cameron speaking last.
Bennett will occupy the far left podium, with Nick Clegg (Liberal Democrats), Nigel Farage (Ukip), Ed Miliband (Labour), Leanne Wood (Plaid Cymru), Nicola Sturgeon (Scottish National Party) and finally Cameron (Conservatives) standing from left to right.
They have drawn lots to decide the order in which they deliver their opening and closing statements, in addition to when they answer each of four questions on different topics.
There will be an 18-minute studio debate following the final answer to each question.
All four leaders will discuss the economy, the NHS, immigration and the future of the UK.
ITV News anchor Julie Etchingham will host the debate ahead of the general election on May 7.

Last night (March 26), Channel 4 and Sky News hosted the first pre-election televised leaders programme Cameron and Miliband Live: The Battle for Number 10.
The Prime Minister and the leader of the Labour Party answered questions from a studio audience and Jeremy Paxman. Digital Spy rounds-up the best bits below:
Paxman challenged the Prime Minister by asking him if he stuck up for the rich and famous. The host questioned his appointment of newspaper editor and convicted phone hacker Andy Coulsen and also enquired about his defence of Jeremy Clarkson.
It was then Ed Miliband's turn to be posed an uncomfortable question when a member of the audience asked him if his brother David would have done a better job as leader of the opposition.
Miliband then explained the concepts behind the proposed Mansion Tax, saying that it would aid the redistribution of wealth across the United Kingdom.

With six weeks to go until the General Election, the campaigns have well and truly begun as David Cameron and Ed Miliband took part in Sky News and Channel 4's Battle for Number 10 tonight (March 26).
The Prime Minister and the leader of the Labour Party answered questions from a studio audience and Jeremy Paxman - in his first post-bbc broadcast. Kay Burley was also on hand to help lead proceedings.
The overall feeling of the first election programme was that it was well put together, but some disliked Paxman's interviewing style - or frankly were scared by him:

David Cameron has agreed to attend a seven-way leaders' debate to be televised on April 2 as part of a new offer tabled by broadcasters.
The prime minister and Conservative party leader has revised his position slightly, after previously indicating that he would only consider taking part in the debate if it was staged before Parliament is dissolved on March 30.
"The other parties have now got to stop running away from this and agree to the debate that the broadcasters have now offered," said Cameron on Tuesday evening (March 17).
"Based on the broadcasters' proposals, we have accepted and plan to attend all three debates on April 2, 16 and 30," said a Labour spokesperson in response.
"If the Tories have confirmed they are to attend one of these debates, then that is progress. It is one down, two to go. But no-one should be fooled: David Cameron is still running scared of a head-to-head televised debate with Ed Miliband.

David Cameron and Ed Miliband have traded insults in the House of Commons, as their argument over proposals for televised leaders' debates continued.
In a testy exchange during Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday (March 11), leader of the opposition Miliband accused Conservative Party leader Cameron of "chickening out" of the debates and branded him a "bully".
Labour leader Miliband said: "You are not going to be able to wriggle off this - this is what you said before the last general election.
"You said this: 'We have the opportunity to debate at Prime Minister's Questions, but that is a very different matter to a proper television debate during a general election campaign'. You said this: 'When Parliament is not sitting and when people will be most receptive to engaging in political discussion'.

When Alan Pardew took time out of his team’s open training session this afternoon to talk with SkySports, the major fall-out focused on his seemingly conservative (and frustratingly so) estimate that if Newcastle could get to 48 points or more that would be classed as a good season.
In terms of last season – a campaign wrecked by a dramatic loss of form of almost the entire team after Christmas – that final figure would not have got 10th place, the supposed minimum from on-high to preserve Pardew’s job. So quite why he’s suggesting that this season the Magpies should get away with doing worse, with £30m of investment in new players in the squad and inevitably heightened expectations remains somewhat baffling.
But if you push all of that aside, and the inevitable responses and outrage that come from fans desperate for some public acknowledgement of ambition to match their own,...

Newcastle United have just announced their squad numbers for the coming season, and there are a couple of revelations that stick out from the updated list. First and foremost, Hatem Ben Arfa has lost his number 10 shirt to incoming attacking midfielder Siem De Jong, confirming not only that the player will likely take up a starting position behind a lone central striker, but also that Ben Arfa is probably on his way out.
It’s no great surprise that Ben Arfa has ben shifted down the pecking order – taking up Mathieu Debuchy’s vacant number 26 shirt – given the continued rumours that he is on the verge of being shifted out of the door, but it is somewhat strange that the player has been given a number at all. Though this has put many a fan into a nervous frenzy, it is also a chance for show runner Steven Moffat to flex his creative chops in order for his plans to really pop with those in love with the current flow of things. New Doctor Peter Capaldi is but one of those changes taking place. With a new face to go with his new ideas, he is set to either take Doctor Who into new and exciting areas or possibly alienate his fan base.
As far as acting experience is concerned Peter Capaldi has an extensive career going back many years, but arguably his most famous role in recent years has been that of Number 10′s resident mast of the art of spin, Malcolm Tucker...

You may not be old enough to remember but there was a time when TV consisted only of poorly written soaps, documentaries and the news, with a sprinkling of generic murder mystery serials to satiate the need for a sliver of tension in our viewing.
Obviously, we still have all that stuff but, thanks to the miracle of digital television and streaming services, we can choose to ignore it and settle down for some cracking drama that can rival Hollywood’s best releases. You only have to take a look at some of the shows of the past 15 years to see that TV has most certainly elevated itself to a new level and a big part of that is the multitude of memorable characters that grace our screens.
But what makes a character memorable? There are a number of factors ranging from the quirky to the comedic but, for the purposes of this list,...

Nine out of the Top 10 most-watched TV broadcasts in 2013 were football games – the lone non-football program on Nielsen's year-end report was the Oscars. The statistics company explained in its overview that football's ubiquity has become de rigueur for their annual list, which this year measured viewership between December 31st, 2012 and December 8th, 2013.
See the 10 Best Super Bowl Halftime Shows
Unsurprisingly, the most-watched program overall was Super Bowl Xlvii, which attracted over 108 million viewers, and nearly twice that if you combine its viewership with the over 106 million people who tuned in for the delayed broadcast,...

I’ve been re-watching a lot of Chris Eccleston recently and, from Rose’s job to the weapons factory on Villengard to Number 10 Downing Street (!), it’s striking how unconcerned the Ninth Doctor is with Blowing Stuff Up. He may well then have sympathised with York local Guy Fawkes, everyone’s favourite arsonist, and delighted in hearing

Well, here we are. A few days into October and we’re finally getting my review of the September releases for Big Finish. Sorry about the delay! I’ll try to be more timely next month. Anyhow, on with the show!
The Companion Chronicles 8.03 – “Upstairs”
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
When the Tardis lands in a dilapidated attic, the Doctor, Vicki and Steven discover they are on Earth, in London… in Number 10 Downing Street.
However alien forces are at play here, affecting the very fabric of the building… and adjusting the very essence of history itself.
This is an odd little tale. It’s hard not to get a little creeped out when your primary antagonist is a fungus, and the setting, the attics in Number 10, is quite an interesting one. The way it’s used as a setting is quite fascinating, too. I honestly can’t say that...

The Star Trek franchise is arguably one of the most popular sci-fi franchises of all time, up there with Star Wars; I’m not even going to touch the whole “which is better” debate here or anytime soon. Let’s save that for William Shatner and Carrie Fisher, eh?
One of the hardest things I’ve ever written was the top 25 episodes of The Next Generation because, to me, nearly all of them are great and some don’t get ranked as high as others. Each episode, in their own rite, mixed adventure, humour and storytelling in a way that is unique to this particular show.
While there are a select few episodes which are either somewhat questionable or truly abysmal, Tng has a very strong batting average weighing in its favor with notable classics such as “The Inner Light,” “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” “Q Who,” and, the universal favorite “The Best of Both Worlds.

The Fantasia Film Festival is taking place from July 18th to August 6th in Montreal and will feature over 100 films from around the world. Horror Is Child’S Play – Don Mancini’S Curse Of Chucky (World Premiere)
A rarity among genre franchises, the Child’S Play series (begun in 1988) has retained the sure-handed guidance of original screenwriter/creator Don Mancini throughout killer doll Chucky’s decades’-long reign of horror. Mancini, who will be hosting our “scar-studded” world premiere, graduated to the director’s chair with 2004’s Seed Of Chucky, after having co-written or written every entry in the series. 19th May 2013: Chelsea end their campaign away to Everton and Rafa Benítez exits the Chelsea dugout for the last time, thus beginning a summer of speculation circulating around who would be brave enough to take the seat that 9 have taken since 2003.
Roman Abramovich’s takeover in 2003 heralded success through unlimited funds to players, good managers and some luck along the way.
But, no matter how well a manager seems to do, a vacancy at Stamford Bridge has become commonplace (ask Roberto Di Matteo), in that time with the hotseat and Abramovich burning each of those 9 managers out and extinguishing the hope of keeping the job.
Abramovich has become notorious for this ruthless habit and has incurred the wrath of the fans for some of his decisions, but he remains there, where many haven’t.
So, who would want to work under this hitman and try and forge a long-term run in the home dugout?...

The first of April is the day where we traditionally celebrate/abuse the gullible of the world by setting up elaborate practical jokes to prank them. But we’re far too lazy to go through all that trouble! So in honor of April Fools Day, we’ve assembled a list of famous folks who have taken it upon themselves to do remarkably dumb things. So if you fall victim to someone tying your shoe laces together, putting Saran wrap on the toilet seat, or sticking a “Kick Me” sign on your back, don’t feel bad. Just be grateful you’re not these celebs!

Liam Gallagher has mocked his brother Noel for performing with Damon Albarn at the weekend. The outspoken Beady Eye singer has ridiculed his sibling's decision to join Damon and his Blur bandmate Graham Coxon on stage at a Teenage Cancer Trust concert on Saturday (23.03.13) ending their near 20-year Britpop rivalry. Liam seemingly believes Noel's rendition of 'Tender' with his former Blur foes is as bad as his acceptance of an invitation to meet former British Prime Minister Tony Blair - who was responsible for sending Britain to war with Iraq on a false premise - at Number 10 Downing Street in 1997. Comparing Blur to boy band Blue, the former Oasis frontman wrote on Twitter: 'Don't know what's worse...

The Doctor Gash's Top 10 Greatest Horror Movies…Ever! series is in the books, and we've had an incredible response from you guys with tons of likes and great comments both here and on the Dread Central Facebook page.
We're going to take one last look at the 10, and you can feel free to keep the discussion going in the comments section.
I would have loved to include so many films on this list. Believe me, it was really tough to get it down to just 10. The top 8 films were easy for me to name; however, numbers 9 and 10 were very difficult because each film placed toward the end of the list meant it was another one I couldn't include. Some ones that I would have loved to include but just missed my cut were mentioned by many of you in the comments section and I thank you for that.

Perhaps the most polarizing film on Doctor Gash's Top 10 Greatest Horror Movies…Ever! list is Number 9, The Blair Witch Project. I've heard many people talk about how they detested this film, that nothing happened, that it was a waste of time.
Not only is The Blair Witch Project undeserving of these criticisms, it was one of the most influential and profitable films of its time.
#9-The Blair Witch Project
"I'm afraid to close my eyes, I'm afraid to open them."
Those that criticize the movie certainly missed the point of the effort, but regardless of any negativity, the box office take was staggering. Made on a budget that would barely cover a decent bachelor party in Vegas, Blair Witch ended up bringing in nearly $250,000,000. Not a bad return on your investment. In addition to the earnings, it solidified the found footage sub-genre of horror, and, most impressive of all,...

Long before I became a doctor, back when I was just a horror intern, I spent plenty of time cruising around the internet, and one of the things I loved to read the most was people's Top 10 Horror Movies lists. Unfortunately, I never read one I completely agreed with.
After finally becoming sure I would never find that perfect writer who nailed the Top 10 Horror Movies as I saw them, I decided to start my own site and thus gave birth to the short lived, but enthusiastically written site, DoctorGash.com. It lasted about as long as "Do No Harm" on NBC. However my love for top 10 horror lists never faded. And now I'd like to present you with mine.
Over the next 10 days I'm going to count down my Top 10 Greatest Horror Movies from number 10 right down to the granddaddy of them all and give you my reasoning as...

First, some quick history for you: Seinfeld originally aired from 1989-1998, with 172 episodes in all, and completely dominated the 90s television landscape (well, apart from Friends). It was created by comedians Jerry Seinfeld and the iconic Larry David.
Based out of Manhattan New York, Seinfeld is a show based on nothing. No seriously, that’s the concept, nothing. It’s about the daily lives of four friends, Jerry, George, Kramer, Elaine and the ridiculous scenarios that they constantly find themselves in. The genius of the Senfield is that every one of the main four have so much depth and personality that you can see yourself in a little of each of them, thus humanizing the show and making it so relate able even after being off the air for over 14 years.
The show is so masterfully written that you can’t help but laugh out loud at almost every segment.
