Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • Joan is heard screaming earlier, apparently undergoing torture in her prison cell.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • None.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The two scenes mentioned in the "Violence and Gore" section. However, children will probably be extremely bored by this film (it is full of intellectual discussions which older people will be interested in, but most likely not children).

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Joan is burnt at the stake at the end. Although very little is shown, we do see the moment in which her neck catches on fire, and it is very disturbing. But although Joan looks understandably shaken, she does not scream or cry out at all during the burning, contrary to some reviews on IMDB.
