The first adaptation was the silent film, Freckles (1917), followed by Freckles (1928), then the full sound production Freckles (1935), and the fourth film with the original title was this film in 1960. However, this story was actually filmed a fifth time, as a TV movie, under a different title, City Boy (1992), the last production based on the same novel by Gene Stratton-Porter as of 2020.
