Maurice, the editor of Marc's songs, his best friend, is madly in love with Evelyne although he is fortunate to have a pretty, tender and self-effacing woman. In Marc's absence, Maurice goes out with his friend's wife, but his assiduous advances are disdainfully rejected. Maurice humiliated, furious, vexed, imagines in revenge to make fall this inaccessible Evelyne in the nets of an irresistible Don Juan, the commander of the caravel Thierry. He makes an appointment with Evelyne at the Auberge des Trois Biches, in Chantilly. Thierry will go in his place. Her charm will act on "Ravissant" and following his habit, he will soon leave her, wonderful revenge for the mistreatment she has inflicted on him. Unfortunately, it is Françoise, Maurice's wife, who, thanks to a telephone indiscretion, will be at Chantiîly's meeting. Thierry will court her while "Raviante" having had a slight car accident is immobilized on the road to Chantilly. The misunderstanding will take on all the desirable dimension so that the husband threatened with being cheated is not Marc, but Maurice, the author of this comedy. The winner of this race for pretty women will be Thierry, the irresistible Thierry, whom Raviante will finally try to conquer.
- Maurice (Philippe Noiret) is a show editor, married to the beautiful Françoise (Lucile Saint-Simon). One of the composers and friend who works for him, Marc Cotteret (Jacques Dacqmine) is the husband of the heady Évelyne (Sylva Koscina). The two wives are also friends, and now Maurice embarks on the perilous and immoral enterprise of seducing Evelyne. Taking advantage of his wife's absence, he offers her an outing: fine dining, dancing, urgent court, outreach work. He collects a cruel rake, on the threshold of the beautiful coquette. She fires him, not for the friendships of the two couples, no, she adds some by telling him plainly that she doesn't like him! Worse even, the next day, the husband, sly and triumphant, tells her that he is aware of her poor attempt, and to surprise that "Evelyne is flirtatious, she likes to please, she lights up, but it's me who turns her off. When she listens to your nonsense, it is to me that she remains faithful, my poor Maurice! "Vexed, mortified, this good fat Maurice is looking for a means of revenge. In fact, he has in his relations a handsome tall and thin captain on Caravelle, Thierry (Robert Lamoureux), irresistible seducer to whom no woman can resist. And so, the good Maurice comes to ask his pilot friend to flirt with the beautiful tease. , just to avenge him, for knowing that she was fallible. Thierry makes himself beg a little, makes the chic modest type, but hey, he ends up accepting. The whole thing, now, is to make meet Thierry and Évelyne. Maurice telephones Evelyne, becomes quite humble, implores her forgiveness, and asks for a final explanatory interview, in Chantilly, in a welcoming inn. Evelyne is begged for a long time, Maurice is begging. You speak, this turkey must come to the rendezvous where the unexpected fox will be waiting for him. The trouble is that while he begs and negotiates, Françoise, his wife, returned to the house. improvist, overhears the conversation on the phone, unbeknownst to Maurice! She deduces from this that her husband is meeting Evelyne, which is not entirely true. She decides to act, to surprise the guilty. On that day, Thierry the aviator, in his braided uniform, drives his sports coupe on the forest road, towards the rendezvous hostel. In the meantime, Françoise has already arrived there, in a taxi, and awaits the arrival of the potential culprits, her husband and her friend. As for Evelyne, she is also driving towards the same place. But there you have it, bifurcation, refusal of priority! She crashes into a sports car driven by an elegant, a handsome, a magnificent driver that she does not know. He says to himself in a hurry "I have to seduce someone in the sector" (sic). He can leave, leave his card to the stranger, let her work it out with a mechanic. Here is Evelyne out of the game, she will not be at the inn. Thierry arrives at the inn, asks if a lady has arrived; the keeper, heard, points out the park to him. And Thierry meets Françoise, Maurice's wife, believing to meet Evelyne! Always kind, friendly, fraternal, funny and full of humor, the pilot (director scriptwriter) is obviously a disturbing encounter, even for a wise and faithful wife. Believing himself to be in the presence of the tease Evelyne, Thierry tells him that Maurice was very upset and very unhappy about the rebuff, and reveals to him that he is only there on order, to seduce her. You speak that Françoise makes her profit from the revelation. She announces to Maurice that she is going to visit her mother, and takes a plane ticket to Rome. Stupor of Thierry who discovers the alleged femme fatale tease... passenger of his plane! The improvised couple enjoy a hot day in Rome. Maurice is cuckolded by the seducer he had sent to Evelyne. Interlude, in Paris, Evelyne's husband, the composer Marc (Jacques Dacqmine, specialized in the roles of cuckolds, since Caroline darling concluded cheated), records his song title "From Rome to Paris, she is I tell you, Ravissant" sung by Eddie Constantine (big name of the show biz of the time). Well, the music for the film is in there. A good thing done. The adulterous couple leaves the hotel, takes the taxi, to Rome airport. There, the pilot leaves his passenger, each his portico and his route. But now... Ma qué! Accident! Poor Françoise cannot find her passport. No way to warn Thierry, who is carrying out his departure procedure. The cops tell Françoise that she still has time to return to the hotel. The poor lover cornered, distraught throws herself into a taxi, returns to the hotel, collects her passport, leaves. And obviously sees the Caravelle take off under his nose. No plane until the next day for Paris! She manages to send a message to the captain, in flight, who learns that ... "Evelyne" has remained stranded in Rome (because Thierry believes he is still dealing with Evelyne).Thierry sends a message to... Maurice, in the style "Mission accomplished, I screwed her up, your tease. But she remained in a carafe in Rome until tomorrow. Arrange the blow with your musician friend, tell him for example that her wife went to the movies with yours. " "Ah yes, good idea! Especially since mine is at her mother's, she will not be able to deny it!" A smirking phone call from Maurice to Marc, to tell him that his virtuous, his impregnable wife went to the cinema with his wife, and that she will probably be home late. The false cuckold, reassured, makes himself a whipped cream, on the mocking advice of Maurice. He goes to bed... and finds his wife in bed, who apparently hasn't come out! The guy is asking questions, we understand. All the more so since he remembers the rake suffered by Maurice. And then, in the morning, the Chantilly mechanic telephones that the lady's car has been repaired! Suddenly, Marc takes matters into his own hands, confronts Maurice and Evelyne, who protest their innocence. He takes them to the inn, where, of course, the keeper confirms that he has never seen this gentleman and this lady. There was a couple, yes, including a handsome aviator, divine and sublime, but not these gentlemen and ladies! Each has their little piece of truth: Maurice knows that Thierry met a woman at the inn, but that was not the right one! Marc is definitely reassured, his impregnable Evelyne is innocent! Thierry still believes that he slept with Evelyne, even though he slept with Françoise... Françoise, alone, knows each other's position, but she is still in Rome! How will this end?
