This is the last Looney Tunes cartoon to feature Milt Franklyn as composer. He had died while composing for The Jet Cage (1962), but it debuted in theaters before "Rooster", which had an earlier production number.
According to the cue sheet at Belgian Society of Authors, Composers, and Publishers, four original music cues by Milt Franklyn were also used in this cartoon: "On the QT", "Hurry Skerry", "Resting Up", and "Rooster on the Town". It is unknown which sections they play in, however.
Barnyard Dawg first breaks the fourth wall as he steals the ostrich egg and then continues to narrate the action.
Foghorn challenges Dawg to a duel in the traditional manner, but they duke it out in the boxing ring instead.
