Shot entirely on location in Jamaica, mainly in Spanish Town. Brothel sequences are the main exception. These were shot at the Blue Mountain Inn (Content Village in the foothills of the Blue Mountains), which was also used in Dr Who, the first Bond film. The water rescue scenes were filmed on a weir on the Rio Cobre, between Spanish Town and May Pen. The most interesting location is the Square, the town centre of Spanish Town with its splendid Regency Government Buildings and the facade of the old King's House, the former Governor's residence where Lady Nugent once held court (cf "Lady Nugent's Journal", University of the West Indies Press, 2002).
