It's been 14 years since "Freaks and Geeks" began its all-too-brief run on TV. Thanks to the Internet, though, you can relive the show over and over again, all in the space of a few minutes.
YouTube auteurs The Fine Bros. have created a "Freaks and Geeks" interactive game that puts you at McKinley High circa 1980. It's rendered as retro-style video game and lets you play as Lindsay (Linda Cardellini) as she navigates high school and figuring out who she really is with her new batch of friends.
If you want a cheat code, you'd be advised to follow Lindsay's story as it played out in the show. Going the other way, though, does lead down some amusing paths, many of them involving Nick (Jason Segel) insisting he play "Lady L" for her. Plus you can always go back and start over.
The videos clearly come from people who are "F&G" fans,...

Question: As a longtime fan of Smallville, I’m dying to find out if Jor-El will turn up before the final curtain. Will Clark reconnect with his long-lost father? —Wade
Ausiello: I hear Terrence Stamp turned down an offer to appear in the flesh, but you’ll once again hear his voice in the penultimate episode when the Superman icon gives Lois the Best. Wedding. Present. Ever: Clark’s powers for a day.

Likely responsible for some of your all-time favourite TV moments (Jason Segel's rendition of "Lady L" on "Freaks & Geeks") and stand-out gags from the world of cinema (Steve Carell's chest waxing in The 40-Year-Old Virgin) purveyor of funny things Judd Apatow is ready to direct feature number four and, to everyone's surprise, he's bringing back the bickering Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) from Knocked Up.
Apatow told Hitfix that he decided to bring back the characters, and give them their own film because "
eople really responded to their characters and problems. I felt like there was a lot of ground I could explore with them."...

The 18 episodes that make up the entirety of "Freaks and Geeks" represent one of the most heartbreaking show cancellations in memory. (You can find the detailed write-ups of each episode Matt Singer and I did here.) While the creators and cast hardly dropped from the face of the earth after the show ended, it's fun to imagine what would have happened if they'd been given the chance for a second season. Which is just what Joshua Kurp at Splitsider does. His take on Jason Segel's Nick:
Nick becomes fed up with both disco and Sara, and wishes he still had Lindsay. He slightly re-works the lyrics to "Lady L," changing "Is your green army jacket keeping you warm tonight?" to "Is your tennis racket keeping you warm tonight?" believing both that she actually went to the academic summit at the University of Michigan and that smart people play tennis.

"Freaks and Geeks" is now airing on IFC, and we thought we'd take this opportunity to revisit the show that launched a thousand bromance movies. Every week, Matt Singer and Alison Willmore will be offering their thoughts on that night's episode.

"You couldn't see through my cloud of smoke / You held my heart, now it's bloody and broke / And is your green army jacket the only thing keeping you warm tonight? / Lady L!" -- Nick
Matt: There's one really important aspect of "Freaks and Geeks" that we haven't talked about enough in this column, and that's its use of music. "Dead Dogs and Gym Teachers," a streamlined but very solid episode from Judd Apatow and co-writer Bob Nickman, is a good place to bring it into our discussion because features examples of all the...

Paul Newman, who combined Method training with matinee idol looks to become the personification of the cool '60s rebel in such iconic roles as the reckless Hud, the defiant Cool Hand Luke and the hotshot Butch Cassidy, died Friday. Surrounded by friends and family, including his wife, Joanne Woodward, the actor and philanthropist passed away at his farmhouse home near Wesport, Conn., after a long battle with cancer. He was 83.
In a film career that spanned nearly six decades, Newman received seven Oscar nominations before he was finally presented with an Honorary Oscar in 1986 "in recognition of his many and memorable and compelling screen performances and for his personal integrity and dedication to his craft."
But then he pulled out a trump card of his own, winning the best actor Academy Award the following year for "The Color of Money," in which he reprised the role of pool shark Fast Eddie Felsen,...
