Storyline
Plot Summary |
A four-man team of commandos within the Long Range Desert Group fights the Nazis in North Africa. Armed with jeeps equipped with .50-caliber machine guns--and endless chutzpah--they wage a highly-irregular war against Rommel's Afrika Korps. Their most common nemesis is Hauptmann Dietrich, though Dietrich and the Rats join forces from time to time against a common enemy.

Trivia | On January 4, 1967, while filming a chase scene on the set of "The Rat Patrol", Christopher George's jeep flipped over, pinning the actor underneath the vehicle. George sustained a cardiac contusion, which never properly healed, and scar tissue subsequently developed. The fatal heart attack he suffered on November 28, 1983 was attributed to this mishap. He was buried in Pierce Brothers Westwood Memorial Park, in Los Angeles, California. See more » |
Goofs | Incorrectly regarded as a factual error: M-2 .50-caliber machine guns were routinely used by and fired from USMC Jeeps from WW II until the introduction of the larger Humvee. See more » |
