GREAT ACTION FLIC BUT ONLY AVAILABLE IN FRENCH
larryanderson16 March 2022
Lang Jeffries stars in this 1968 action movie set in Libya. A group of international "misfits" are hired to take a convoy of trucks from Tripoli to the a base in the desert. Soldiers are sent to intercept them as one of the trucks carries a large bomb and the fear is for a "political" attack on an Oil rig. Lots of action ensues as the battle for survival rages on. This is sort of a re-make of The Wages of Fear and Flight From Ashia which has desperate misfits getting mixed up in political matters they shouldn't be involved in. Available only on French language PR. A must of Lang Jeffries fans. Lang made many Sword & Sandal movies as well as a string of great Euro-Spy thrillers. One comical scene has a police jeep racing across the desert with it's siren screaming but he is all alone in the middle of nowhere where no one can hear the siren. Larry Anderson.

Poor man's SALAIRE DE LA PEUR

Yes, any movie buff will recognize here a Henry George Clouzot's masterpiece rip-off; after all it is authorized to be inspired by great films. This one belongs to the filmography of a now forgotten French film director: Willy Rozier. French film industry made many adventure movies in the fifties, and sixties, testimony of the colonial period for France, before definitely finishing in the seventies. This one is not DIRTY DOZEN, and we can bet that Robert Aldrich, with the same topic, would have done something far far better, more exciting. However this film is pretty good for a French - European - movie. It is cheap, sometimes clumsy in directing and acting, but remains a good time waster.
