Opening credits prologue: In World War II the fighting that raged in The Balkans was both vicious and bizarre. It was a brutal kind of war, a war in which an occupied people waged a constant struggle against forty elite Nazi divisions; a war in which more than two million of the population were killed.
The courageous battle fought by these underground fighters and the handful of Allied soldiers who fought beside them, forced Germany to siphon precious and badly needed troops from the battle lines of Africa, Sicily, Normandy and Stalingrad.
This is only one of a hundred stories from this bizarre war.
