Trivia | At the end of the movie, the Italian crowd exults because the national team won the final match of the Football World Cup against England. In reality such a match never occurred; actually Italy never played England in a World Cup before 1990. In the 1970 World Cup (hence just before the movie was shot), Italy lost the final to Brazil. For info Italy's previous World titles were in 1934 and 1938. The fact Italy is shown winning allows the exuberant and meaningful ending. The fact it is against England contrasts with the fact some characters had to entertain English-speaking clients during the rest of the movie. See more » |
